Default Momentum Headerback Exhaust System Review

Hi folks,

I wanted to do a in-depth review of the Momentum Headerback single exhaust system.

I purchased the Momentum Cat-delete y pipe and muffer system from Z1 motorsports several months ago for a steal price on black friday.

I think it deserves a review before considering buying this system.

The PROS:

The stock exhaust system weighs approx 50+ pounds...This momentum system probably weighs about half that. - significant weight savings
TIG Welded stainless steel - Quality built
Very nice deep tone it gives the car a more aggressive sound

The CONS:

Off-road use......the system is a cat delete y pipe then a straight pipe back all the way to the muffler......it is EXTREMELY LOUD.....

When I mean extremely Loud I mean several things,

The people who install it for you at the racing shop think your crazy....and they build 1000hp cars all the time....

You hate hearing it in the morning so you drive slow below 2k rpm, the cars behind you are pissed because you are driving slow, the consistent sound on a cruise sounds irritating as hell, get ready for tickets if you decide to drive the car in town, I have been pulled over for going 20 mph in a 25 mph zone and a cop cites and says my muffler is too loud.

After 4k rpm - the car becomes really really really loud, it cackles and sounds like a motorcycle i feel somewhat embarassed because I should have a turbo installed to compensate for such a loud sound....If your going to buy this exhaust buy a turbo along with it so when the turbo spools up at 4k rpm the exhaust sound will match the speed.

I have made many many enemies with my exhaust, people in my apartment hate me, police hate me, be ready for people to hate you.

Personal experience:

I get pulled over a lot by police, the tickets are not cheap. If you buy this exhaust use it only for track or drag strips. Do not buy this with the intention to drive your z on a daily basis around town.....a cop will pull you over.....I like this exhaust but only in the afternoons and evenings.....in the morning I hate the sound.....I just woke up and have to run to work.....

I once read on the lamborghini forums that this guy wanted to buy an aftermarket exhaust for his aventador and he wanted one that was "pissed off at everyone and everything"

This momentum exhaust does just that.

My car literally sounds identical to this clip, This clip from youtube is not mine, and it does not even show you the WOT in the clip....

^aye.

that's really f*cked up of them to do that.

make sure you rev to redline a couple times and do a very, very long burnout on your way out, too.

Sounds great. I actually just ordered the Momentum Performance Cat Delete Y-Pipe today to replace my recently cracked Indivia test pipes and garbage Megan Y-Pipe (got it for free). I've had quite a few different test pipe/y-pipe combos, but the one piece design used by Momentum just makes more sense to me, especially with the common issue of test pipes and y-pipes cracking on the Z.
