I have Injen cai. Another guy on here dyno 287 with injens. I think different dyno. Going back again next week or so to do full exhaust and 3 more pulls. Main reason for dyno today was to see if I got the same loss as murray because of gears.

Bought some K&N heat shields. They're for the K&N intakes but I decided to wing it and see if they'd fit. And they did. I bought the heat shields and edge trim for both sides. Would have got the mounting hardware except they said that alone was $102. No thanks. So for the shields and edge trim it was like $101 shipped. I used black zip ties mainly to mount them haha. Not like anyone can see it, and they're definitely not going anywhere with these big *** filters. Anyways. I know it's not as good as an enclosed box but it's definitely better than nothing and I'm sure it will help.

Looks good! Those should get the job done; sealing off the gap over the top also with that padded material is key with them working well. Good work!

Hello i have some questions before deciding to do this mod for my intake.
Did you use the stock maf sensors or did you have to buy 3" maf sensors ( if yes where to buy them please ?) ?
Does people other than bmurray did this mod on a HR and did they saw similar gains to him ?
Thank you.

I got the housings from CIN and the filters and 2.75-3" 45 degree couplers which go from the TBs to the MAF housings both from Ebay.

I'm scheduled for a tune this Saturday. Once I get back from it I'll post the results, possibly with a video.

My setup is:
Berk HFCs
Top Speed y-pipe
Momentum single exit 3" cat-back w/ an 18" bottle resonator (pass through)

I expect to make figures close to if not slightly more than BMurray considering I have stock final drive and otherwise he and I have the same exhaust setup save me having HFCs and he having TPs.

We shall see next weekend!

Yeah they're doing the tune .. I'm doing the install since it's not super complicated.

I had to reschedule to 7/12 due to a birthday party and baby shower this past Saturday. I'll update you guys that afternoon.

I MAY also run the Z1 power plenum on this setup too, I'm debating if it's worth it or not as I heard it would only net single digit gains and that could potentially be after a good while tuning.

I'd love to see some dyno sheets about the Z1 Power Plenum. When I called to inquire they said they couldn't provide the sheets because they were going to post them up once they put the product officially on their website.. yet to see anything.

you must not be looking very hard,

http://www.z1motorsports.com/g37_370...oducts_id=7267

that mod is on the 370z
but yes it can be done for the HR intake manifold if you ship it or ask them directly.

I've seen that sheet - the lines are so close to each other it's difficult to tell the actual powerband.

its not too bad since there is slighly darker line and the faded ones. (not talking about the TQ lines..)
but I agree they never provided a true before after with the same type of intake manifold because their dyno sheet was an unmodified HR intake manifold Vs their modified VHR intake manifold which has shorter intake runner to begin with and is better for top power band anyway.

this is why their VHR show a lower hp/tq between 4500-5100rpm but is within a few hp from 5100-6600 then the VHR does get much better higher up.

as for a comparasion between a stock HR vs VHR intake manifold you can look at my test I did a couple years back.

the HR intake manifold on the 370z proved to be much better below 6800rpm.

So I had my car tuned today with the 3" housings. Below is a picture of the dyno sheet, the run was done on a Dynojet, 91 degrees and 30% humidity.

Also there are some shots of the intakes and the dyno setup. I don't have my original baseline dyno run so the comparison is:
Before - Borla cat back, Berk HFCs, K&N drop in filters
After - Momentum Performance single exhaust, Megan/Top Speed Y Pipe, Berk HFCs and the CIN 3" housings

So your gains were similar even going from stock airboxes to the 3" setup...

Yup, the shop was Vinny Ten Racing by the way .. they were impressed as well .. interestingly the tuner told me that dyno they use is very conservative, not even a bolt on HR w/ cams has broken 300. Only 370s have broken 300 on it so I'm not disappointed with the numbers. Considering the results and the cost, I really can't justify any other intake setup on an NA motor (think Injens etc.). The only issue you could run into is heat soak which is the next thing I believe CIN is going to tackle.

As you can see on the dyno by the way, the torque curve is excellent and you can definitely feel it driving about town. I was told by someone who works in a reacing series that a lot of their intakes they run are normally larger than the actual throttle body which allows charged air to be at the ready within the intake which explains the throttle response being very good as well. Overall I'm happy
