Default need a y pipe for nismo S tune cat back exhaust

I just got a killer deal on a nismo S tune cat back exhaust but no y pipe. What y pipe do you think will make the most power and fit up best? Thinking about motordyne XYX? .. But straight? Resonated? Cat? Or is there other y pipes that's gonna make great power and sound good?

Pic one. Theyre pretty much the same power wise. Little to none.

That's not really what I see by other posts and dyno sheets? Also nismo durability is questionable? Not really Looking for a pick one reply. I know there are ones that make more power and ones that may not sound as crisp and ones that are prone to crack ... I see there are lots of bs what's best talk but I have done my research and looking for some replys by people who may have dynoed different y pipes or had certain y pipes fail

On a budget... HR y-pipe

If you can spend the money, XYZ.

My s-tune y-pipe is the only reason I'm not running HFCs or TPs.

Just curious ... Why can you not run test pipes or high flow cats with nismo s tune y pipe?

OHHH and straight pipe xyz? Resonated?

Known to put stress on them causing cracking...

The design of them makes them prone to cracking aftermarket pipes.

I would go straight XYZ unless you plan on getting TPs.

No ... I'm in California and don't want the hassle so I will stick with stock cats.

I was able to intercept a NEW nismo y-pipe for cheap and thought I was lucky.
When I bought the used s-tune kit they guy that sold it to me didn't want to give me the ypipe as he said it was leaking.
Guess what, after barely 1 month both flex joints of my NEW nismo y-pipe failed miserably.

Since I didn't want to bother with a new y-pipe I had the guys at the exhaust shop cut out and mig weld new flex joints. Jose' did amazing welds and $140 later I'm pretty happy with the results.

I'd say stay away from the nismo y-pipe as it's prone to leaks around the flex joints. If you plan on putting high flow cats or straight pipes, pick some that have brackets or the side to side movements of the engine will put a lot of stress on the flex joints and most likely lead to failures and leaks. The nismo midpipe and muffler are pretty solid and kept up well.

Great info ... And right inline with other stories I have heard. I pulled the trigger on a Motordyne XYX non resonated y pipe. Hope to get it on next week.

I had great luck with the Meagan hr style y pipe but then upgraded to the xyz with res and currently running the xyz with straight pipe attachment. I'm also running z1 headers and art pipes sounds awesome not too loud honestly liked the sound better with the Meagan.

I have had the full exhaust on my car for 40,000 miles and have not had a problem with any crack in the Y pipe. However they Y Pipe did crack my Berk HFC's. I have since had all of the cracks welded and have had zero issues.

I wonder if it the nismo y-pipe is more prone to cracking HFCs or TPs on a DE than a HR.

I am considering TPs but don't want to run the risk of cracking anything.

I've had the Nismo catback with OEM cats for about 6000 miles then swapped the OEM cats with kinetix HFC only last month. I presume the Nismo y-pipe was already on its way out with the OEM cats. I feel it's a design flaw of the flex joints and/or the factory welds.
Either way I do not recommend the nismo y-pipe.
A cheap and safe alternative is the Nissan HR y-pipe and if you're planning on putting test pipes, pick some that have brackets or have someone at the muffler shop adapt and weld a couple of brackets.

I ended up going with a motordyne XYZ y pipe with straight pipe. I installed it all tonight. I installed one catalytic converter, motordyne XYX y pipe with straight pipe and nismo cat back. It all took just under 3 hours start to finish including blasting all bolts with pb blaster and letting it soak for a bit. I love the sound!!!! At idle very quiet and almost stock but as soon as you give it some gas the growl comes alive!!! You can definitely feel a power increase and sounds soooo sweet when you are on it!

Congrats! I love my S-tune and have had it for years now. Still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
