Question Labree High Flow Cats

Anyone running these? I went by Labree Motorsports last week and was impressed with the construction quality. They claim 8rwhp gain and they pass the sniffer in CA. Their price is a bit higher than others at $495, but for polished stainless steel, that's not too bad.

Speak up if you have them.

the similarity in your name is eerie....

anyway I do have them on my zed I cat complain about the performance nor sound they work as claimed and produce those results you mentioned. One thing I dont care about them is the somewhat reduced ground clearance but then again I need every little bit my car sits lower with my coilovers anyway.

i would say probably because of the size and positioning of the CAT being more on the horizontal part of the bend rather than the vertical part you will lose maybe 1-2 inches at most. So enough to scrape if your not careful..although I havent really except once..otherwise I would say get the RT or kinetix since the CAT is repositioned higher.

Arent all the other cats, converter first, than pipe?

Yes, these are pipe first, then the converter. This is probably not ideal for smog, but Labree guarantees they pass the sniffer in CA. That's good enough for me. I'll be installing them this Saturday if all goes as planned.

Hey, my high flow cats are set up exactly the same way. I have the Acosta Racing custom Y-pipe with Magnaflow high flow cats. I removed the Y-collector and just used them as high flow cat pipes. I can tell you that they do cost quite a bit in ground clearance. I run 350Z springs and struts, no my ride height is the same as a stock 350Z. I have a problem in that I cannot go over speed bumps that very tall, in fact I scrap over a speed bump I can't driver around going into school. If you get down and look at the car from ground level. Needless to say, I'm going to do custom work to get my ground clearance back, not a problem for me, just wish I didn't have to worry about ripping the cats off cause I forgot about them.

One bit of good new's I can talk about is, I have ZERO rasp. Now to be fare, my setup is different because is use's 2 1/2" piping on the cat pipes vs 2 1/4" and they are Magnaflow high flow cats, not sure what brand of cats are used in the Labree cats. I cannot speak of how much loader the high flow cats are, since they were installed with my custom exhaust.

Here are some pics

Don't know if this one helps or not.

Here's a pic so you can compair the location of the oem cat's.

Yes, I could have put the camera closer to the car, but it's the only clip I have, (that and two in car clips).

Tone,.....well, the other element's of my exhaust system dominate, so any describtion is really about the exhaust system, not the cats. But in a way that's good, ZERO to say about raspiness. My system is a copy of Stillen's design with the use of two Injen SES mufflers.

Well, I got the cats installed today and I am damn impressed. The fit and finish of these things are excellent. Every edge and weld on these things were smoothed and deburred. I had them installed at Labree and I was very, very impressed with the quality of work they do and the attention to detail they give. The guys that work there know what their doing.

Now to the results. The power is there. BIG TIME. I was litterally laughing my *** off when I first stompped on it. I could not believe I would feel that much difference. Everyone's been saying high flow cats are the best bang for the buck and its certainly true.

There were some people that mentioned loss of ground clearance with these since the cat is at the bottom end of the pipe. The amount lost on my car is about 1/4", so its not an issue at all.

As for sound....AWESOME. No rasp at all. None. Your exhaust will get a bit louder but the sound is fantastic. The cats finally got the Stillen exhaust to make some sound above stock noise levels.
