i was reluctant to receive the gasket for the upper plenum from you guys. concerning this i was wondering if i could get away with using a liquid gasket or sealant in its place. doug was happy enough to send me another tuesday after the vacation, but to my dismay, i will be having the plenum installed that very day and need the gasket before hand.
so could i use a liquid gasket sealer or a silicon sealant of some sort in the OEM gaskets place?
also if i am able to use the liquid gasket or silicon sealant in its place, do i have to remove the stock gasket or should i leave that on? in the instructions it says to use both the new and older gasket to ensure a good fit.
please let me know if i should go ahead and use a sealant of some sort, and what kind u would perfer.
thanks

Use the stock one... you should be okay with it. We send a second to "double" up, since most likely the older one is warped.
I use only one, and the original.

A word of advice - if you torque the plenum bolts down to the specified torque values in the Nissan service manual you will most likely break at least one. I broke three on mine! The first one broke cuz I wasn't using a torque wrench and I just plain overtightened it. The second one was torqued below spec and I was trying to get it to (I believe) 12 pounds/foot. The third one my Dad broke while trying to torque to spec. I talked to Doug about it and he said that it is best to use a 1/4" rachet and tighten them until they are tight. Advice I wish I would have had before I put mine back on!

You guys must be bodybuilders or something. I'm 6,1 at 200 lbs and I've never broken a bold, I've x-threaded a few in my time but never broken one. Even with air tools.
What ever you guys are eating, send some to So Cali. Our cows out here aren't worth crap.
