Default Ramps or jack?

Am I better off with ramps or a floor jack with stands?

How is it that you can go to AutoZone and get a floor jack, 2 jack stands, and a creeper for only $40 but ramps alone are $35?

I have those low ones that the parts places sell. They seem to be just about the correct height for a stock Z.

I wish I had answered my own question. I mean...in my mind the ramps are more expensive because they are easier than a jack, but I really have no idea.

Alienx, are you talking about ramps?

Ramps are pretty darned convenient, but thats IMHO. I have both, but I always go with the ramps when I need access underneath the car. Less work, I guess...

I tried the low ramps on my coupe and it scraped. Took them back and got the Pep Boys $24.99 jack, stands, and creeper,

Best $24.99 I ever spent.

zand02max, do you use those little rubber feet things on your jack stands? Do you have trouble getting the car to sit securely on the stands?

I took the rubber things off, and it still didn't work. Needless to say, I took the ramps back and got my $ back.
