Default what to expect... worse case scenarios

Ok so Im almost 100% posistive about gettin an 06 Z and ive been doing alot of reading. As far as Ive read Z's are prone to having problems with the tranny, alignment and few people that have been unlucky and had their engines blow relatively soon (that doesnt count). I just wanted to know what other probs are common with the Z and if you guys have had trouble with the dealers owning up to the warranty? Oh and yes im a n00b so I wanted to know what tire feathering is?

Thanks to all in advance

Nissan as a corporation is horrible. That is my primary complaint with the Z.

I've got nothing bad to say about Nissan, in fact I have a lot of good to say about them.

I've owned an 86.5 Hardbody (absolutely over-engineered, which was OK with me), 93 Altima (saved my life when I got rear-ended on the freeway), 95 Pathfinder, 01 Pathfinder, 02 Spec V, and now an 05 Z.

Still far less problems than most cars out there. Certainly far less than most sports cars out there.

Tire feathering???? Never heard of that before. Maybe it happens when you run over a turkey buzzard or something. kidding. There are over 2 million threads on feathering so if you have 2 months free time you can use the search or I can sum it up for you pretty quick. Happens to the front tires of our Z due to exessive wear on the inside of the tire. There is a flaw in our suspesion design that can not be fixed. You can get a bandaid for it but not a total fix. I love my Z though, no regrets. BEN

You have probably read a lot of posts of people with problems on their Z, but even more dont even have any problem at all. In my case I have an 04, and the only problem I've had is premature wear on the inside of the front tires (feathering), I went to a dealer they did not know about the problem, so I just went to another one and they change the tires no questions asked.

I have also heard of people with problems in the tranny, some dealers might give you crap, go away try to find a dealer who knows about the problem and could cooperate with you.

It could also help you if you try to find a local Z club in your area, so people could probably recomend good dealers.

Since you love in florida I can help you further, check this link out:

If you're in PA, go to Exton Nissan. They used to be Devon Nissan, sold that lot and went to a better area. My family's bought from them for the past 25 years, so needless to say, they are a pretty good dealer and MUCH better than some of the ones ive heard about through here and other forums.

(not saying you live in PA, your in FL, but thats just for anyone in PA...lol)

Z's a good car. I've had my 03 for about a year and no problems what so ever. Better gas mileage than most other sports cars, gets more looks, and is way more original than 90% of the other "sports cars" out there. Just my 2 cents. Later,
Fletch

thanx to all, guess your right. You dont see many people posting "well ive had car for x years and noooo problems" you only see the unfortunate fews stories. And even though this site rocks you guess bend over backwards to help each other out and that is most def a +
