"Service Engine Soon" Light Came On
So... I did a bit of playing last night in the parking lot ... showing a friend how well the VDC and TCS work when doing donuts. He was completely amazed.. and it was a blast.
Several minutes later... I noticed my "Service Engine Soon" light come on. I mentioned it later to my wife and she said: "What did you do... O.K. I don't even want to hear it!"
I hope it was just a sensor issue or just for saftety reasons when the computer recognizes a lot of activity from the VDC controls.
Anyone else see this?

Well, when that light comes on, the first thing I would do is unscrew the gas cap and rescrew it allowing a couple clicks. This seems to be the most apparent cause of the light, however I don’t see how it would be connected in this case. My service engine light came on recently and the service tech told me that most instances are triggered to a vacuum problem (e.g., improper gas cap fit). Unfortunately in my case, it was connected to a bad valve. In any event, I suggest that you take the car in and have them run a computer diagnostic.
Some people have reported problems with the electronic throttle position sensor causing this. Seems that the encoder that monitors the throttle butterfly can start to lose its position info and then start giving the ECU bad data.
When ECU detects a problem it will trip the check engine light. The Nissan dealers had to replace the throttle position sensor in these cases.

Really depends on how bad the problem (if that's the problem) is.
In the cases I had read about the position sensor would fail so bad that the ECU went into "Limp" mode and the car lost almost all power.
In any case you need to get the car to the dealer ASAP to find out what is wrong.
