Default Transmission Replacement Cost

Hi I was wondering how much it costs to replace a tranny, including work. I am looking to buy a 2003 350z from a salvage auction. The guy that is setting up the whole thing for me said that even though it may only have 20k miles and a clean/salvage title i will not be getting any warranty information. Would i be able to go to the dealer and show them my title and they give me what is left of the previous owners warranty and if not what would it cost me to replace the tranny with work included.(supposing it breaks )

If anyone has any experience with this kind of stuff please share. Thanks

If the car is being salvaged, it will probably show somewhere in the titlework. That means a clear trail to Nissan and an unlikely warranty on the tranny. Personally, I advise against even trying.

Is the tranny damaged? If so, I've seen some personal ads for trannys on this site for about $2K. If not- and there's really only 20K on the clock- consider replacing the OEM tranny fluid with a mix of Redline MTL and MT-90 and running it.

The problem when buying from an auction is that you don't know anything about the car except if it starts and is able to move on it's own power. You also get pictures from engine bay and other angles. The plus side is that you can get a 2003 350z with maybe a damaged bumpers for 13k. Is the warranty linked to the car or is it linked to the owner that bought it from a certain nissan dealer.

Thanks for you help

As far as nissan working on the car under warranty, I've never had a problem. I bought mine used, and took it over there to get my window fixed shortly after. Didn't show them anything, they just took it in, fixed it, and gave it back to me. I guess they probabally looked at the odometer and ran the VIN to make sure it was within the 30,000 mile/36 mo., but they never asked me anything about it.

Hmm thats very interesting becuase I thought that you had to go through all this warranty paper work crap. Mr jadowski did the owner you brought it from give you any kind of paperwork or information about the warranty, and does the warranty apply to salvage title vehicles?

Thanks for the info
