How about an 05 Z?

Nissan will probably be willing to cut you a pretty good deal.

PM me if you want further info. I'm not sure what I can share based on the settlement agreement, but as long as you have your documents together and bury the NNA rep - you should be good to go.

Nissan produced ZERO documents to support their case in terms of my car and the related problem. Not sure if this is the case across the board - but it is good to know.

Good luck guys!!!

Now the hard part for me is deciding what car to buy now. I'm down to two:

2004 Acura TSX
2004 Subaru WRX

Bang for the buck - the TSX is far better in features. Any suggestions?

Did the off-set usage get you anything more than an outright sale of the car?

Just my opinion but I would think the satisfaction of sticking it to NNA would be worth the off-set usage. Well KBsig, was it?

Nissan got "full" off-set usage - which sucked. So I will be refunded all my upfront money (deposit, tax, tag, title, dealer prep, etc.) and all 15 payments I've made to date. Now minus the off-set usage formula and I get to keep the rest. Fair enough.

My usage, based on my math, should be around $5100.00. Also based on my math, the total paid out by me to date is around 13.5K. So I would expect to get around 8k back +/- a few 100(s).

Was it worth it - yes. The alternative is I'm stuck with a lemon. So in the end I get my deposit and a nice amount of my payments back. In return Nissan gets $5100 (est) out of me for the usage which comes of the top - so I really never feel the hit.

YES I will miss my Z big time. I really loved the car and the Brickyard color being a one year color kept me hanging on longer than I should have.

I've got to look at the TSX and the TL. The overall features are better than the STI or the WRX. I just don't want to loose those comforts that the Z gave me (Xenon lights, power seats, leather, etc).

So I'll drive me Z till it's time to turn her in. The milage doesn't count against me - granted no cross country trips for me though.

Dealership replaced my 2 front tires today and did the latest TSB.

I had 8300 mile on the car. There was no questions at all. They did the measurements on the tread and saw that the tread lugs were more the 0.60mm so off with the old tread and on with the new. I was able to talk to the Mr. Tire rep that is located at the dealership and he supplied me with the new lug/tread pattern RO40's they seem to ride a lot better and there is a noticable difference in road noise nice and quite.

They also did the TOE adjustment. Man I hope this works and heck if it doesn't I will get another pair before my 24 months is out.

Can someone post a picture of this "new" lug/thread pattern???

I had my fronts replaced less than a month ago and I would like to see what the new ones look like.

Congratulations on your victory. At least I hope it was for you and you are happy with it. As far as choice in cars assuming it is a sports car you want and looking at approx same price as 350Z and staying with a sports car, would have to go with Honda S2000. If you want to go lower the Miata is a fine sports car too. and they are adding turbo to boost the power. I know since I first bought a 2 seater in late 60's I have not stopped buying them. 4 seaters just are not the same or as fun to drive. imo Good luck to you.

Thanks for the info guys - I'm going to test rive a TL and TSX this evening. Bang for the buck - those are two fine cars. Besides, after all the $hit I've gone through with my Z - I would like something worry free for a change. Granted the Acura's might have problems, but hell it's a Honda....

Thanks, I got my new tires about a month ago and they are the old thread design. I can see where the new design would work better to slow down any feathering problem. They replaced mine at 4500 miles, maybe they will install the new thread design with the next set of fronts they install under warranty Since my Z is only 6 months old.

I think the new design will only slow the feathering from happening but not eliminate it! Also, with this design the water will not be able to escape from the middle of the tire which will increase the chance of Hydroplane duing rainny days.

NISSAN............ WHERE IS THE "RECALL"?????

Amy,
Thanks for posting the pic of the new tire design. It does look promising, but unfortunately, that's not what I got from my dealership when my tires were replaced last week. :-(

In terms of hydro-effectiveness, it doesn't look good at all. I'm guessing they will add a warning label stating that it's a 'high performance summer' that's no good for more than 20k miles and no good in the rain.

On a side note, now that I've temporarily swapped back to the OEM tires from the T1S (to get the TSB performed), I've definitely been able to tell the difference between the two tires.

I'm not sure why folks harp on the OEM tires so much, besides its tendency to feather and get noisy, but the turn-in and quietness of equally new tires and tire pressures is better on the OEM tires. The ride though, is harsher with the OEM's, which is surprising considering the OEM's are 17" and my aftermarkets are 19". The sidewalls in the T1S's must be pretty soft compared to the RE040's, or stretching 245's on 9.5" rims at the front may have given it a softer feel....weird.

However, the way the 235's looks at the rear of the car is almost comical once you see what the Z looks like with 275's with aggressive offsets.

I suspect that feathering of my T1s will be quite negligible because the noise level of new T1S almost equals my mild roar when braking with OEM's. Why are the T1s' noisy?...probably because, the gap between tread blocks are big compared to the OEM...maybe twice as wide, which could actually stave off feathering.

I need some clarifications so kindly on TSB's. I think I have had 'Pulling To The Right' (which only marginally helped) and Brake Roar.

Could somebody KINDLY do a recap on the TSB's.

The lame attempt to fix the Tire Feathering Issue is/was what TSB ?? (If so is this the one that had 4 revisions?).

Is the allignment issue also the Pulling To The Right TSB?

What is the Brake Roar TSB really related too.

I REALLY APPRECIATE SOMEONES TIME TO ANSWER. WITH SO MANY POSTS IT IS A CHALLENGE.

So there really never was (or is) one on the Tire Feathering Issue, up untill the 04/12 Warranty announcement.
