Default How difficult is it to change the oil?

Hi Guys, Nearing the time for the first oil change, gratis by the dealer. For future oil changes I just wanted to know how difficult the filter is get to and basically if it is easy to change the oil yourself or a pain? Any information or input would be appreciated. Thanks Marcy

There are about a dozen bolts holding on the splash shield on the bottom. Once that comes off, and its very easy, the rest is a piece of cake. Should take no more than 30 minutes.

Where have you been, anyway?

Default I'm back

I have been around , mostly lurking and reading , but not giving any input. How are you liking your car? I still love mine, not sick of it yet. How many miles on yours? When did you get it? Talk soon Marcy

got it back in september and have about 4200 miles. I love it! After 16 new and 11 used cars in the last 17 years, I have finally found a keeper!

was the question Z specific? or in general is changine oil hard.

oil change is easy, get acess to the drain plug, remove the bolt and the oil drains itself. your probably gonna wanna replace the filter too, not sure where thats located on the VQ engine, but should be accesible under the car.

but to be totally honest, I like doing stuff myself and all. but oil is a HUGE PAIN. you drain it, and you now have 6 quarts of oil that you cant do anything with... its worth the money to let them get dirty, not risk leaking on your driveway, and not hassled with disposing of the old oil.

Got mine 9/5 just turned 3000 miles, I feel the same way about this car...I still love it. It keeps surprising me...you know everyday driving and then the urge hits and she responds beautifully..I just smile, and sometimes scream Yahoo or say whoa!!!!!!! BTW how do you like your G35 coupe..saw it in a SS type color the other day...looks quite fine with the stock wheels. My BF is going to get a G35..boat first than car........how would you compare it to the Z?

AutoZone and Wally Mart will accept used oil for recycling. I change my own oil because I have a distrust of mechanics (if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself).

Michael.

The G is a great car for the money, and drives very nicely, but is still no Z! The seats are a little too far up from the floor for me, I like the low down sports car feel.
