Default Rev Guage Braking???

Today on the way home my rev guage did not work.. it was as if it was stuck at 1rpm. I turned off my car and turned it back and and it still did not move. Later I let the motor rev up and somehow the pointer jumped to 3k and then everything went back to normal for a while....

After 1 min it broke again but later fixed itself... what would cause this?

Should i take it to the dealership under warranty? Or will they laugh at me and say nothing is wrong

Don't bother taking it into the dealer unless you know how to replicate the problem.

Do you have a roadster? I've heard of this problem when the sun is directly on the gauge cluster it can cause it to stop working.
