Driver Side Window Stopped Working
The driver side window has started to not function. First it would work intermittently then all stop. I took the door apart to do the limit reset as described in the manual with limited results. I have reset the passenger side window such that the auto shut and features work properly with no issue. It appears that this issue is different from the passenger side. Some of the posts indicate that it is the motor that goes bad. If that is the real fix than do you go new or used on the motor? Thanks for your help.
Both of my windows have now gone out on me. From what ive gathered reading up on this issue i think what the problem is is the motors over time create a carbon dust that starts to prevent voltage from passing through where it should. Thats why sometimes hitting the door panel where the motor is or slamming the door will cause some of the dust to come loose allowing the window to operate again. If your past warrenty there is a write up somewhere of a member taking the door apart and cleaning the motor. I know a few people have done this and its worked for them. If your under warrenty though get a dealership to replace it.
Thanks for all of your help. I have taken the door apart a second time and found the brushes of the motor full of dry grease and carbon such that one brush was fully retracted. I cleaned it all up, greased the bearings and reassembled the door with excellent results. This is not a very hard fix. The motor assembly has three screws to release it from the regulator and the motor has three small screws to take it off of the assembly. No tricky brushes to make for a hard reassemble. anyone can save the money for an out of waranty repair by DIY.

My driver side window stop working too. Is there a link to show how to take the door panel apart. It seems easy enough but we all know how that goes, things never go the way you expect it to.
i had this problem back then, took my door panel apart, reset the switch multiple times but the problem always came back after 2,3 days. Took the car to the dealer, they changed the motor and it worked fine until now. Dont waste your time, take it to dealer if your car still has warranty. I think it must be <36K miles ???
My car was out of waranty (more than 36 months from time put in service). The repair is fairly easy and I can put some pages from the service manual as an attachment if someone really wants to do it themselves. Let me know.

There is how-tos and pictures in this thread.
I have taken my passanger side apart and cleaned the motor out. That lasted me about month and a half. I just ordered a new window motor monday and should have it tomorrow or friday. Installing it myself.

The post from james840a has a link to a previous post. The second page has pictures on how to take the door apart except for the screw behind the door opener (pull rubber plug and screw is behind this plug). If there are any issues let me know and I'll put some pages from the service manual up.
I just clean my driver side window and it's working again. Thanks for all the help guys. The only problem I "think" I see is that when you open and close the window, it doesn't seem it go down as far as before. The window also seems to go slower.
This might just be me, either way, I'm just happy its working again.

Damn, it worked for about a week and got stuck again. So I took out the motor and cleaned it again. It worked for about an hour. Took out the assembly again. After spending hours in the garage trying to figure where I went wrong, I'm still stuck with a broken motor. Now, it just wont roll up or down....period...no matter what I do.
Besides taking it to the dealer....any other suggestions?

^^yeah, it kinda upsets me that my friend's 1987 Civic's (110K miles) power window still works and here I am with a 2003 350Z ($30K) with only 40K miles and I have to pay to have my windows work.
Doesn't make sense.
