IMO it's best to get one that has a warranty or extended warranty.

The problems aren't as bad as you think. Mostly people WITHOUT ANY problems don't voice their opinions as much as people WITH problems.

Go for it, I've never personally met anyone who didn't love their Z.

Very true. While you might see a few dozen or even a few hundred people complain about a problem, that's out of over 100,000 Zs on the road.

The only problem my Z has had is the tire-feathering. I had it realigned over 10K miles ago and have had no problems with it since then.

+1 I've found that almost every car that is called "unreliable" on forums is really not that bad. Its always over blown.

I'm also making the transition from the RSX to 350z. You have first hand experience with all the posts about problems, etc. on clubrsx. You have to remember that the forums are just a segment of the population of car owners. Sure you will find a lot of posts about this and that problem and sure some of them are 'common' but they may only occur on 5% of the cars out there. People don't start a sticky thread saying "Hey I don't have 2nd gear pop-out!" I've done a lot of research on the Z and come to the conclusion that if I end up with one that has some of these problems I will get way more help from Nissan than Acura. Just buy the car you are want and try to at least have powertrain warranty.

PS: Do a search on any specific make/model forum for transmission issues and I gaurantee you'll think that every transmission out there is crap.

The only problem that stands out with the 2003 is the tire feathering problem. I've heard that an alignment, new tires, or camber arms will fix it. Besides that, you really shouldn't have a problem with the 350z.

You should find out if the clutch has been replaced though or if it is the original. If it is still the original, you might need to replace that.

if i got very deep pockets, i'd get myself a porsche or m3. Since my pockets ain't deep enough, i've been stuck with a Z since 03...cuz i could only afford new brake pads and oil changes....lol

If you are looking for reliably, there are better choices than a high performance sports car.
