Default Chattering sound when clutch is released

I just recently bought a used base 350z. I recently noticed chattering sound coming from the engine bay when ever the clutch is released and then goes away and the clutch is pushed in. Usually very loud after I punch it for a lil bit and also hear it rattling when i accelerate. Im thinking its the Throw out bearing,
but then i took it to the dealership and they said its normal? but somehow i dont believe them.... am i just paranoid or are the techs at the dealership dont what they r doing? thx ^^ new to the forums btw nice to meet u all

Normal. I hear that it's worse if you get a lightened flywheel. My dads stang has the same chatter.

It is normal. The rattling noise should be less as you give it gas. The stock flywheel on the car is actually two peices and is made to reduce noise by 400% and it still has some left. I have the nismo lightweight flywheel on mine now and the rattling is a lot louder in low rpms.

I have the same noises, I was fetting ready to post the same question. The sound does bug me. It sounds like something is wrong, but if most of the Z's out there have have the same noises I will just leave it alone.

so does this include when the car is in idle?

I noticed something similar when I was parking my car in the garage. When the clutch is engaged (not pushed in) i hear a noise (chatter) and when the clutch is disengaged (pushed to the floor) the chatter goes away.

back when I used to have a MINI, they said it was the 'mass of my gears rattling'.. I know cars and i don't buy that line itself, but it seems to be normal with both cars.. heh same as above post though, push in clutch, it goes away

I noticed a noise with mine when driving beside a building wall. The echo off the wall ( like going through the Mcd's drivethrough) Dealer told me there was no problem also. Sounds kinda like a throw out bearing clatter.

flywheel chatter - not normal with dual-mass stock OEM flywheel, very common with lightened FW's. Not likely TOB, unless you have some high miles.

Yep, i dont think you should worry about it. Somedays my car will sound like a damn John Deer tractor, but i have noticed it goes away when you turn the AC on.

I always just called it clutch chatter, but I suppose flywheel chatter is the same thing. As I understand it, the flywheel is still spinning as the motor is idling, obviously, and the clutch kinda rubs against it slightly or just rattles slightly. When you depress the clutch pedal it goes away, and is common in a lot of standard cars. Atleast the many that I have owned!

Probably because AC kicks the idle up a notch in rpm. I noticed for some reason my base idle dropped when I did the replacement, it idles ~500 rpm, about 100 rpm lower.

Whatever little noise I can hear, it's more noticeable at 400-500 than 600-700 rpm.
