Default high pitched whine from engine compartment?

I just noticed this today. If I turn the key to the position just before the engine starts to crank, and when the accessories are powered, there is a noticably loud whine coming from the engine bay. It is not loud enough to hear if the windows are rolled up, so I never noticed it before. It sounds almost like an electronic test tone of some sort, and I found that it was of similar tone to the # key on a telephone. Does anyone have any idea what this might be?

According to the CPL post, a few people have been getting whines from their fuel pump, but would this take effect even when the engine is not on?

Thx everyone

I had the same question, and this is all the search turned up. The noise is coming from the black heatsinked doohickey at the base of the air intake and it's pretty loud; I can hear it even when the car is running. Anyone?

Hehe forgot about this thread.

The noise is coming from the throttle body, and I've found that it goes away if you put the car in neutral. Blue, have you noticed this?

So does that mean that warranty would fix this problem? And would exactly should be fixed? Sorry if these are dumb questions.

Would the car warranty replace the throttle body? This noise is driving me insane.
