Default tried to replace belt and...

i tried to replace my airconditioner belt, but i couldnt break the nuts on the pulleys loose at all. I think they are a little corroded due to salt here in HI. anyone have any ideas?

I don't have the car in my garage right now, but what size are the bolts? If they're pretty big try a breaker bar. If you can't budge it with that try alot of wd-40 and than heat it up. If no of that works, and you don;t have access to a air gun find a way to extend your socket or wrench by putting a klonger hollow metal tube over it, thereby extending your leverage. DO THIS LAST, you run the chance of actually breaking the bolt. It's pretty unlikely it would break, but I;ve broken one in the past so not impossible. Then you;re stuck drilling it out, not fun!

Good luck

i think the problem is getting leverage and countertorque on the nut becuase of the position. there is not very much room between the pulley and the fans. i am going to try again tomorrow though

i've removed those belts to install the underdrive pulley before. There is enough room to loosen those bolts. No WD40 was required in my case. yes, a breaker bar comes handy.

Never used WD-40 for this but, I have used Liquid Wrench with a good bit of success.
