i hate to disappoint you. Shifting from 1st to 2nd shouldn't make that noise. My 03 original tranny(oem oil) don't make any noise even the first time in the morning pulling off the driveway. My 2000 Jetta VR6 used to make that clunk noise and i sold that sucker in a heartbeat(took a 9000$ depreciation in 02).

I've read about 3rd gears making clunking noise, but not at 2nd.

sometimes you may hear that "clunk" noise. we got a heavy clutch. I've experienced that 1-2 shift with a bit of noise..not often. Make sure you push the clutch alll the way down and like shift smooth and steady. I don't know what the "woing woing" noise you describe is when you are in first gear...you talking about the whine the car makes when in first gear? thats pretty normal.....for all cars.

the wong noise usually comes when i press the clutch down, but still in first gear.. it stops as soon as i go in neutral or any other gear.. but only comes if the clitch is depressed while still in first gear, car moving...

My '04 clunked from first to second... louder if it was cold outside and the tranny wasn't warmed up. My new '06 does the same thing, but not as loud. 2nd to 3rd was smooth & quiet in the '04, same with my '06.

It will sometimes feel heavy from first to second, but as long as its not grinding and still engages second gear, then you should be ok.

I have kind of a whinding noise if I keep the car in first and depress the clutch. Im not sure if that is what your speaking of. Its kinda hard to explain, but it doesnt seem like its detramental. I have had it for about 25k miles now and other cars have had similar noises.

If you really want a car that makes a lot of funny noises, buy an EVO! It was worth it though!
