Question Extended Warranty

do you guys think the extended warranty is worth it?

just got my last notice in the mail and my warranty expires at the end of the year so i am trying to decide whether or not to purchase the extension.

i know in the past with other vehicles the extended warranty went through another company and not the manufacturer. you would get reimbursed for the work being done.

i am hoping this is not the case with the nissan extended warranty. my main worry is the tranny...other than that seems like everything else on the z is not too major. i don't have feathering issues and have an 04'.

thanks in advance for any info you can provide here especially experience with nissan and extended warranties.

I got mine when I bought the car since it was used w/ 6k miles on it. I haven't need to use it but it's nice peace of mind.

If you treat the car right I don't think it's necessary. But if you'd rather take it to a dealer to fix a known issue instead of a having a local mechanic try to figure things out, get the warranty. They're like $1k-$1500 right? If you're not modded I think it's worthwhile.

This is my first Nissan and I honestly have no idea how reliable it'll be past 60k miles. And my car sure is taking a beating here in So Cal so I suspect I'll need it at some point.

those nissan v6 engines are pretty reliable as far as i'm concerned. My friend's v6 pathfinder has almost 300k miles, everything original including the stock clutch. Battery and starter mototr were replaced.

I would say go ahead and get it. With all the power window motors you will have to replace the warranty will pay for itself.

Default warranty....yes

the only reason I wouldn't get it is if you were going heavy mod. Other than that, I like peace of mind... esp. with the Z..

Pathfinder...225k...and going strong

got a titan 2005, no problems but yes warranty

definite yes with my 06 MB

just got off the phone with nissan...believe it or not, since i have such low mileage i am a high risk. this means more money but they could not give me a price. apparently they only offer this once, so if you start the process and decline that's it. i am trying to decide now but without knowing the price that kinda makes the decision more difficult.

bottom line here...am i going to keep the car or not...leaning on the not now.

thanks all for your replies...will keep you posted

Damn, just when think dealers can't get any more shady....they start that. I totally think the "we can only start this once" line is crap but it's just another high-pressure sales game they play.

yep...sucks...i hate that crap. the fact they couldn't give me a ball park figure was also bs...and the "we can work with you on the financing" was disconcerting as well.

the thing that really bites is all the stuff i need to get fixed at only 15k...driver window motor, cd (2nd time), fuel lines, rear wiper, noisy dash, and possible tranny issue. i had the front tires replaced and the rear wheel clicking tsb already done too.

Window Motors, there is a thread out there saying that you can get a window motor at Autozone with a lifetime warranty for $150. So I wouldn't get the warranty just over that.

I have 41K on my 04.5 Roadster, only had it 28 months. They quoted me $2200 for an additional 4 year/40K miles, which equates to 2 years for me.

It has a $100 deductible per incident.

When I went to by the car new they quoted me $3000 for a 7 year 100K! I laughed at that one!

When I bought a Pathfinder the quote was $1500, but they went down to $900.

What prices have you been quoted. I suppose the roadster is more expensive with the top replacement issues they have.
