Default Corrupt ECU?

My ECU is having major issues.

Car: 2003, completely stock, 8,700 miles.

Probable cause: Car was not driven often. Battery completely died at one time a few months ago, and remeined dead for a month or two.

Battery was replaced at a Nissan Dealership.

Symptoms>

First thing that happens is that I lose the tachometer & temp gauge.
After 20 minutes, or 20 miles, I lose the speeometer, fuel gauge, and I get all of the fault messages including: VDC Off, ABS, Tire pressure icon, Check Engine...I also lose my blinkers.

If I shut the car off after I lose everything above, then it will not start.

I have check all of the fuses...twice.
i have reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery...twice.
I have reset the ECU and cleared the faults by using the "pedal-pump" method...twice.

What's going on?

My guess is that your wiring is in bad shape. If your grounds corroded extensively, you may have all kinds of issues like this. I really don't think it's your ECU. Your cluster and the gauges have feeds from the sensor separately from the ECU.

I was assuming the sensors send a signal to the ECU & the ECU sends the info to the gauges...

Sounds like something wrong with the Can systems...Maybe check the IPDM? Really hard to diag unless you have Consult 2 scanner and that can tell you what system is not working. If possible try and pull a code if you get U1000 remove all ground bolts from engine and ECM and clean them up and try again...

Its wierd that the new battery didn't help. It sounds like its a battery problem. Those are the symptoms i got on an old car when my alternator belt had snapped and the battery slowly died on me. Make sure that your alternator is functioning properly and/or the belt is looking ok.

Make sure you got a new battery from the dealer and they didnt just recharge your old one and bill you for a new one.

Yeah I was thinkin the same thing, get your alternator checked and also make sure the battery is new. Then check for corossion on your main harness, are you the only owner of the car?

Alright...this is what happened.

I took it to the dealer. They pulled "dozens & dozens of random codes"
They had to diagnose the problem with NNA.
NNA suggessted that the car could have been jumpstarted backwards. (Yes, this is a slight possibility because for a couple of years I stored the car in a friend's garage...wife jumpstarted car a couple of times to move it)

Anyways, the BCM (Body Control Module) = $350+
and the Gauge Amplifier = $350+

...were both replaced, problem fixed....

I have an '03 as well and my car was acting up recently. Everything was acting weird and I had to jump my car twice in order to get it to the dealership to diagnose the problem. After waiting for a couple hours, the tech mentioned that there was a bunch of codes that pulled up but the car was running perfectly fine for him. I haven't had to rejump the car since that day but he did have to reprogram my keys. The next day after the trip to the dealership, I noticed that my interior lights wouldn't work. I later found out that my BCM was going bad and that there is a TSB for this issue (faulty BCM).

Question is, will the dealership honor the TSB if your car is out of warranty or will you have to pay out of your pocket? If they will honor the work, Pilot_Z... you might want to go back to the dealership and request your money back. I personally haven't gone back to the dealership yet because I don't know if this work is covered and I need to buy new tires.
