Lots of Noises
I've currently got a lot of issues with my Z now, so I figure I'll run them by you guys, to see if you have any suggestions. First of all, it's an '06 GT with about 48,000 miles on it. Yeah, I know. My Z was purchased pre-owned, and the high mileage was acquired from the previous owner. With all these problems I'm starting to find, I'm thinking that the previous owner wasn't a very loving one.
Anyways...
My first issue is my brake pads. I ended up having to change my front brake pads out because of one side. The pads on that side were worn about twice as much as the rest. Thoughts?
Secondly, I've recently acquired a squeaking grinding sound it seems like from somewhere around the throttle body area, although it isn't coming from that. If I let the car jerk when I shift it will do it, and when in second and third gear around 3500 - 4000 rpm it will steadily do it. Also, a few times I've gotten it to do it at that same rpm while out of gear and moving, although not very often.
Thirdly, it sounds like my valves are ticking. I'm assuming this one will be an easy fix. Is this a common problem with Nissans or Zs? I've heard rumor.
And lastly, I have a rattling sound when shifting out of first at very low rpm or idling at very low rpm.
And you guys don't even won't to hear of the other problems, but that's being/has been sorted out already.

That's what I'm thinking, although they've all been acquired recently since I got the car about 5,000 miles ago. He was a midde age guy, but I'm thinking he ran it pretty hard. The rear tires had been replaced when I got it, and I just now replaced them again, but that was more due to the fact that I had an unpatchable nail in one tire.

No, I bought it from a dealership, but I met him. He cut me some good deals on accessories and a front set of michelins. I'm having everything checked out tomorrow, but I'm using all my resources to try and figure out whats going on. I may very well try and get ahold of him tomorrow and ask him about it.

Well they seem to think it's probably my transmission, unfortunately I don't have the time to have it replaced right now. So for now, I'm going to get it officially diagnosed, and put it on hold until I get my moving taken care of. I hate the fact that I'm going to have to deal with some other people, but oh well. It still under powertrain warranty, so it won't cost me. Although while I'm at it, I'll try and have a Nismo clutch assembly installed.

The valve ticking and squeeking I know nothing about. However, the "cement mixer" noise as people call it in first and shifting out of first is normal. Just search "cement mixer noise" and you'll see what I mean. I was driving downa street with the windows down just after I had the car, and I freaked out cuz the sound was reflecting back and it scared the crap out of me...turned out it was normal. Good luck figuring the rest of your problems out, however:P

The ticking noise is my injectors, which is normal. The squeaking sound actually turned out to be my K&N filter, which I had assumed wouldn't make that noise. I'm switching to cold air intake however anyway.
And it's good to know that cement grinding noise is normal.
