Default Getting New Tranny in 350z....

Well bought it on the first of may. It is a 2003 nissan 350z Enthusiast edition with 50k. It was making a rattle noise when the clutch was out and in the morning when i shift from 1st to 2nd i could feel it catch the gear but wouldnt grind and same into 3rd but 4th is fine and will do this for first 10 mins of driving . i could hear it going into every gear . i have very bad stick vibration. so i figured flywheel is out of balance and throw out bearing is shot. took it to the dealer 3 times they told me nothing is wrong. so i took it back this last time and told them a story from the night b4.

I was in taco bell drive through and the guy at the window was drooling on my car telling me how nice it was and all this and then he goes whats wrong with it. THATS EMBARASSING!!!

So i took it in and told them about it so they kept it over night and drove the next day the concluded the bearing for the gear set are shot. there for my warranty will be buying me a brand new tranny there going to order it monday.

From what i hear 2003s were known for tranny problems. Any thing else?

My car (3100 miles now, 2700 when it started grinding...ugh) needs a new transmission because 6th gear no longer self synchronizes.

why would you have to pay a deductible at 50k for a tranny? the factory warranty is till 60k, right? just curious why you would have to pay anything.

I called and my dealer goes "We haven't had any 06's or 07's with tranny issues, thats really weird....so you're sure you need a new one."

"My BMW made it to 153k before I sold it, and when the clutch was changed at 130k it was because the pressure plate was worn out, I think I can drive stick fine, and I never ground gears then, don't now, except 6th"

He just said "what time and what date" after that.

Thanks for posting that information. My 2003 needs a new tranny at 28K miles (synchromesh is shot in 5th gear). Dealer is installing new transmission... I appreciate your post.

Lord. Now I don't feel so bad about my transmission. I'm just looking forward to upgrading my clutch along with it.
