Default VDC Sucks..need help.

Need your help this time guys. I finished up my header install this weekend and now my VDC and SLIP lights are on. When I start the car up they're off, then when I turn the wheel as I'm moving they go on and stay on. I pushed the VDC button and it won't turn them off. I can drive back and forth w/out the lights coming on..but as soon as I turn the wheel, they come on and stay on. WTF?! Please help. Any ideas?

hmm weird. I'm just taking guesses here... I'd try to read the engine codes (using cipher or the nissan "CONSULT" tool). Also check your wheel speed sensors.

Oh wait -- duh, steering wheel angle sensor! You probably had to mess with your steering knuckle for the header install right? Check that... also make sure it's not too close to the header so it won't melt.

Thanks for the reply. Can you help me understand a little more about the steering wheel angle sensor. Can I have it cleared? The knuckle was installed exactly how the repair manual states...the slit in the knuckle lines up w/ the protusion on the cap while the wheels and steering wheel are in straight ahead alignment.

I don't know, I've never had to work on the steering on my Z. But I did notice in the Crawford header installation manual it says to be very careful to NOT turn the steering wheel while it's disconnected... something about the airbag. Anyway.. the steering angle sensor was just a guess on my part based on your symptoms (you turn the wheel, VDC lights come on). I wouldn't rule out other possibilities..

BUMP! The car is on jack stands. I've aligned the projection on the rear cover cap w/ the corrected position in relation to the steering rack, aligned the steering wheel and slid the steering knuckle onto the gear w/ the slit on the lower joint aligning w/ the projection on the rear cover cap. I get in the car start it, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left(counterclockwise) and no VDC/SLIP light,...then I start cranking the steering wheel to the right(clockwise) and towards the end it throws the VDC/SLIP lights. WTF? Someone must know wtf is going on. Please help.

Not like anyone cares, but I figured that I'd post the fix just if anyone else finds them in this position. I took it to the dealers . They had to use the diagnostic tool and reset the steering angle and repostion sht. Then they reset the ECU.
