Anyne who hears clicking from the wheels!
I had my car examined after I started to hear a clicking or ticking sound from my rear wheels last weekend. I would hear the noise when I accelerated, and it quickly got worse -- would hear 5 or 6 "clicks" when I accelerated or shifted gears!
Turns out some bolts on the axle became corroded. This leaes me with some other unanswered questions (i.e. wtf nissan makes bolts out of) but I wanted to post because I saw another post where someone had this problem but couldn't figure it out so I thought I'd post up the solution the local dealer came to.
cheers,
richard

Syfon:
I apreciate your input... But unless you are doing doughnuts in the ocean... I had not heard of this perticular issue.. Exactly where on the Axle (Rear I Asume) is the "Clicking come from?"
Cheers Amy -
Hopefully, this diagnosis has been placed in the NNA - Database?

I was wondering about this as well. I asked and they said moisture was most likely. I live in New Orleans, and we had some pretty severe rain last week. A storm came up from mexico I think. My car was by no menas flooded but there may have been enough water to have an effect since there would have been a lot of splashing as I drove around (avg rainfall was like 3 or 4 inches around town, some standing water in lower streets was a few feet)
That is all I can think of...

my car has the same problems and Nissan said it does deal with the rear axle... they said there's a new bearing configuration and its gonna take a while to fix... I thought a bearing problem would cause more of an exhaust-like hum... Any input?

Try telling your dealer that a friend with the same car & problem found out from his dealer that it was what we said above. Might cut down the time required to fix it, although most dealers disregard everything the customer has to say unless it comes through official channels...so it really is a shot in the dark. Depends how nice the guys at your dealer are
Also, thanks for adding your comment to this thread which is more than a year old instead of starting a new topic to further dilute things. I noticed that this is your first post, and I appreciate you making use of the search function.
What year is your car, 04, 04, 04.5?

LOL I have the same problem... But I noticed that clicking sound when I put on my aluminum lug nuts? I figured because because they are aluminum they do that because I'll be done driving the car and if I drive it hard or brake a lot when I leave it parked I hear those clicking sounds, like metal is expanding... Haven't really paid to much attention to this because it hasn't bugged me that far yet...

This is not the same thing...I have had both issues. The clunk in the front suspension is only when you cut the wheels and go forward or in reverse at low speed, like parking in a parking lot. The clicking or ticking is a much different sound and doesn't come from the front control arms.

The clunking sound from the front is coming from the upper control arm bolts that are loose they have to loosen one whole turn and torque to spec. and the rear click sound are the rear axle splines that had to be cleaned , lubed and retorqued to spec. Good Luck these are just a few problems with the Z. Look at the TSBs at www.infinityhelp.com , click 350z, make copy take to dealer.

I have had the same problem. CLicking at 16k miles from the rear, underload. Dealer says the parts on on back order, it's been 3+ weeks and the parts department says they are awaiting nissan to release new parts/redesign.
