Default OIL PRESS SLAMMED AT 120+ psi

so i was driving home tonite and i noticed my Oil Press was slammed at 120 PSI. so i drive carefully till i get home (6 miles) and i get my car in the garage and i pop the hood and look on the ground for a massive leak... i see two small puddles about the size of a gatorade bottle top...
Is this serious? why is the guage all the way at 120 psi... my guage moves.. i put it in nuetral and it went to allitle below 120 but thats still high!!
is it ok to drive? i have to drive to work and i am supposed to be making a trip to teh beach this weekend and this is the only car i have to drive....whats going on???
Help please and quick!!
Thanks alot

definitely not normal - assuming it is 120+ at low revs - get to shop asap.

First thing to do is replace the oil sending unit. Its right next to the filter so if its been awhile, do a filter and oil change

That will solve your prob Im 90% sure.

I wouldn't drive it if it was still acting like that, better have it fixed while it's not broken bad, cuz if it get's worst well $$$$

its basically a safety feature that kinda sux..yea u can drive the car but i would drive as little as possible...its keeping the oil pressure way high because it doesnt kno what %throttle u r at.....oil sending unit is usually the prob...it can get bumped/hit and its done...30 for a new one i think....

The senders going out are fairly common and when they do ---it will peg the gage.

Also, if a sender goes out, it will many times leak a little ---hence the oil drops.

I have replaced a least a dozen

As easy, if not easier, than your oil filter. Put a little Permatex teflon sealer on the threads
