Belt squeal
usually when the motor is cold, i get a belt squel, its kinda annoying but goes away usually after a few seconds. All the belts are in good shape, and i did spray some belt dressing on there, no dice. What ya guys think it may be? Thanks in advance!
Check the tension. An old trick is to put a little dab of toothpaste on the belt, but that was better for V-belts. I'd put my money on the tension, a service manual should show the proper amount of deflection.

you might not have to tighten it, it could be loose.
The best way to check the tighteness without a tool is to turn the belt. if you can turn the belt more than a 1/4 turn, its loose. It should only be able to turn 1/4 turn.

belt felt tight to me, so i just took it to my mechanic, he said the belts needed to be replaced even though others told me they were fine, wala no squeal anymore!!! Im so pumped
good to see this thread everyone cause my Z is squeaking like a bi*ch and my dealer told me to have that 30,000-mile service done which runs about $500+TAX
how can I have this checked or can I just have the belt replaced? cause I dont have that cash right now, oil change is done about to get done, air filter changed and wiper blades changed. my car is an 06 and has 36,000 miles and to be honest I havent done any service to it beside the oil change every 2,500 miles. (REGULAR OIL) and switching to syntetic now.
