Default Clutch noise?

Hey everyone,

I have an 07' 350z. It's got about 8k miles on it now and I'd say around 1-2000 miles ago I began to hear a noise when I pushed the clutch in and upon release. It's not a loud noise, and tough to hear with music on. I was just wondering if this is normal. I've read some people saying the clutches are loud, is this what they are talking about? If I could describe the noise I would have to say it sounds like that noise you can make with your tongue when you 'pop' it. Sorry for the crappy description, but any thoughts on this?

Same thing happens to me (2005 w/ 24k miles). However, after doing research (with the Search button finding the Top 100 Questions thread) it has been stated that this is normal. I really only ever hear it in first... however, I would assume that because I'm rolling in every other gear, the road noise drowns it out.

I wouldn't worry about it, although if you are... try searching.. it may prove quite useful.

I went to the trouble to find the quote for you...

A: Yes, these sounds are totally normal. Furthermore, the Z's transmission is rather noisy. Shifts will seem especially noisy when you are in an enclosed parking lot, tunnel, etc.

Have you taken your car in for the slave cylinder recall yet?

my '06 makes that noise whether the car is cold or warm... doesn't seem to be worse under either condition... it's just really annoying... i'd also have to say like others that it's more so when disengaging from first to go to second or to neutral... i'm curious if anyone has swapped their slave cylinder with a different z to see if that helps with 2 things, stiffening the clutch and to reduce that clunky disengaging sound, i helped a buddy of mine swap his '05 slave cylinder for an '03 slave cylinder in his S2K and that helped with "snappier" shifts and a stiffer clutch

I would imagine that it wouldn't make a difference. I'm solely basing this opinion off the fact that everyone I've ever talked to (whether it be an 03 or an 07) has this noise?! I don't know for sure though... and I don't know if that Slave Cylinder recall would make a difference either.

Thanks for the info all. And no, I haven't taken my car in for the recall. I never recieved a notice from Nissan so I don't think my car was apart of it.
