Default Fuel Hose Recall

My Z (2004.5) is part of a recall for several fuel filler hoses. I have heard that this is a lengthy procedure where the gas tank has be be lowered/removed and much of the rear suspension needs to be disassembled.

Is this really the case? I tried to use the nissan tsb/recall site...but never got a confirmation email to complete the registration process (tried twice...site problem maybe)...so I am not sure what is involved.

Can anyone recommend a dealer in the IL/MO area they would trust for this type of work. I am debating whether to have it done or just "chance" it and not do. Maybe that is a dumb idea..but not sure I have faith any ole dealer doing that level of work on my car.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

From the Recall:

APPLIED VEHICLES: 2003-04 350Z (Z33)
APPLIED VINS: 2003 MY 350Z: JN1AZ3***3T000001 - 120447
2004 MY 350Z: JN1AZ3***4T000001 - 160537

This is a very complicated procedure as the entire rear suspension has to be removed. This is the main reason that I have not had it done yet. I am not 100% my local dealer can do this without messing something up.

My biggest fear, aside from them screwing up my car and me having to pay to get it fixed, is that when they unbolt the rear suspension, it alters the balance of the car on the lift and it nose-dives into the floor of the shop.

Thanks for the help!!!

I called two different dealers and gave my vin...and it is NOT part of the recall...that is great news!

However, I am a little confused by the above posting of affected VIN's...it says
"2004 MY 350Z: JN1AZ3***4T000001 - 160537".

According to that, my VIN is affected...unless I am not reading it right...my vin is JN1AZ3***4T013***. It is a roadster...not sure if that makes a difference.

Any ideas?

Just curious...did your 2004.5 vin fall in the affected range posted above? Not sure why the dealer says mine is not affected, but that vin range says it is.

Try calling back or check with another dealer just to be certain. I took that vin info directly from the recall.

it is indeed a complex procedure. All of the above does have to be completed. Took my dealership all day to get the car back to me but i did have it the same day. I had my Borla mounted up also and they removed that and replaced without question. I did have a rattle once they reinstalled my exhaust that i had to indentify and eliminate which was a *****. Suspension was good to go though.

I called one more dealer...then called Nissan directly...and both said the same thing...my vin is not affected by the recall.

I questioned why the recall shows a vin range...and my vehicle is in that range. She gave the answer that all vehicles in the range may not be affected..and the specific vin is the only way to know for sure.

Hope that sounds reasonable to more knowledgeable members here...because I sure like the answer =)
