oil psi gauge going crazy, HELP!
I changed my oil for the 2nd time today(used castrol gtx 10w40, 5 quarts like manual says, btw is that a good oil choice?) and after doing so I noticed the oil psi guage read around 60 and rose to around 90 when accelerating. Is this normal or did I put too much oil in the car.

i don't know if those numbers are normal i'd have to go look at my car, but i do know its perfectly normal for the oil gauge to spike up when accelerating. the manual even mentions that so people don't worry when they see it happening.

so it might be normal, well when you next drive could you take notice of oil psi at idle (mine is like 55psi) and what it goes to when accelerating. I drove my car hard it went to 90psi.
I would really appreciate it if someone could do this test

10w40 is fine just as long as it stays warm, that is what I read in the manual
but anyways, when accelerating does your oil psi guage go up 20-30 psi???
and what is your idle psi, mine is around 55-60???
please this is urgent, I did everything by the book and I not sure what is up

I've been using Mobil 1 5w30 since 3000 miles, and during the winter my pressure would practically max out the guage when accelerating. Once things got warmed up it would stay a little lower, though.
It's normal (at least for me) for the pressure to rise as the RPMs increase.

I use Mobile 1 5W30, and it will go almost all the way up to 120 when cold, if I go to high rpms (which I don't do, as a rule) but it will stay below 90 at all rpm ranges when the engine is hot. I generally use this to gauge how warm the engine is since our cars do not have an oil temp gauge. Once I can take it up to 6k without the pressure oging over 90, I consider it warm, and let er rip.
