2nd gear no "umph"
Had my car about a week. its broken in
Heres whats up
I havent floored it in 1st gear, but I have floored it from a roll in 2nd,3rd and 4th.
3rd gear feels really fast from a roll (3500rpms). 4th pulls really well from a roll too (4500 RPMS)
But 2nd just seems to not be as exciting when I hit it from a roll (3500RPMS). Is this normal?? I dont get the "pull" like i do with the other gears

Second gear Should definitly have more pull then any gear above it (depending on RPM's). But im Sure you know that. Anyways, i doubt it, but maybe a mistep was made and the tranny makers screwed up your second gear.. made it too tall.

Give it a few thousand more miles. after break in my car didn't feel much different. Now it feels much better. The engine was very tight for the first few thousand miles.

I think it's due to a heavy flywheel at the beginning of the power curve. Then you shoot through the peak really quickly. Then the power falls off quickly due to the ecu, and the plenum. But this is all my guess from what I've read around here. I too had the same complaint when I first got my Z.

My 2nd gear is amazing! Well, that could be in part due to the Procharger!! I had to do it, sorry! On a serious note, who knows, there could be a power transfer problem in your tranny??? All I know is many of the members on here have had their tranny replaced one, two, or even three times! I for one am having it replaced next week due to the bad synchros shifting into third....the same problem many of the members are having.

I have about 9000 miles on my car now, and every since break-in 2nd gear has been my favorite gear, it pulls very hard... After your car is broken in, creep it up to about 4k then hit it..in my car it hauls and throws you back into the seat..

Yes when I was at the race track last week, there is one really super-tight S.
You come blasting into it, stand on the brakes while heel-towing it into third gear, cut into the middle of the S, brake some more while heel-towing it into second gear, and when you pass the turn-in for that last part, you stand on the gas and charge up the hill.
Seeing how I could get my car into second gear, at about 3000~3500 RPMs, on the last part of the S, I could really launch up the hill. I also unintentionally broke the tires loose while rolling, on several passes, and kicked the tail out a bit. Second pulls very hard. The only other car I've driven that could break the tires loose while already rolling was a Corvette.
