Default Is this D2R HID bulb burned out?

Can someone tell me from looking at the pictures if the bulb is burned out? Of course, it doesn't light up anymore, but I rather just replace the bulb than a ballast. I've also noticed condensation under the headlight lense, so maybe moisture pre-maturely wore it out (IDK). Thanks for your help.

just plug it into the working side and see if it lights up? Or just swap the bulbs, and you'll get your answer. Kinda hard to tell by just looking at it.

I thought about that, but I didn't find out and get to working on it until after church last night. I'll try swapping the bulbs after work today.

I called the Nissan dealership for one D2R bulb, they want $191.

You can find cheaper bulbs online.

On a side not, what camera is that? That is a clear picture.

I swapped the bulbs and the bulb is good. I opened up the headlight and there was water in the ballast. I'm drying it completely out and resealing it, hopefully it'll work again, otherwise I'll be in the market for a new ballast.

The pics were taken with a Nikon D60.

It's hard to tell because HID bulbs don't have a filament that burns out like a normal bulb. Likely it's usually the ballasts that go bad from moisture, like in your case. Same thing happened to me, I let it dry out and it worked fine.

The whitish color in the bulb looks like it is starting to get worn out, but since you already found the problem, I guess that has nothing to do with it. I had a bulb burn out on me once, had a brownish color where yours has that milky look to it. Usually when just a bulb is bad, it will still try to power on, just won't kick on to full power. The ballast will still try to light it off but can't. Bad ballast won't do anything at all usually, but it depends on what exactly goes 'bad'.

I just dried everything out, touched up the paint on the housings, sealed the lens like a ****, and still no light. I'm looking for a ballast now.

Thanks for your help, hopefully someone else can use this thread when their xenon light goes out.

Update - after driving from Melbourne to Tampa (~140 miles), when I turned on the headlights to leave the HIN show - the driver's side headlight came on.

I guess there was a little more drying out to be done and now both headlights work.
