Default HELP! Problems after clutch/flywheel change

Ok, changed my clutch and flywheel and now the car won't run. Checked the crank position sensor and doesn't have any effect if I move it closer and further away kills the engine. Checked all wiring. Car won't go above 900rpm and smells rich. Acts like it's out of time when you try to accelerate. Any ideas?

ok, all the help with this doesn't seem like it happens to often.. FYI for anyone reading this or might run into the problem I got half of it. There was no Service Engine light with that problem. I decided the only thing it could be after rechecking all wiring was the crank position sensor and run to autozone and picked one up for 50 bucks. Installed it and that problem went away. Now the car turns over for a while before starting and I have a service engine light but it revs up fine and I was able to drive it about 30 miles with no major problems. I noticed the rpms were fluctuating so I'm assuming I still have some tweaking to do with the sensor. Will post what I find once I get it right and if anyone has any ideas please tell me what ya think.

maybe the flywheel was installed improperly and is off balanced?

my only question is how would it be off balanced when it was a super snug fit onto the crank? All bolt holes lined up and had to pull the flywheel up with the bolts??? It's a fidanza lightweight flywheel.... Just not sure.. Gonna call them tomorrow

ok, so I went to autozone and tried another new sensor in case they sold me a bad one and hooked it up to diagnostics. With both sensors the car still turns over forever b4 it cranks and the rpms fluctuate. The code is for the crank sensor as well.. any ideas ppl?

OKAY....

when installing the flywheel - DID YOU LINE UP THE DOT - TO THE MARK ON THE FLYWHEEL.........????

get back to us on that?

The dot is inbetween the Torx bit screw holes on the back of the engine.....you must match that up with a designated point on the flywheel.........

i believe thats the reason all your crack positiioning is all off....there is probably nothing wrong with your original sensor....

Look at these pics....

The back of the flywheel has an "indicator hole/mark" that is supposed to line up with the DOT that is shown in this pic at the 12-O-clock position - its in-between the Torx T-55 hole locations.

I'm almost certain that's it. Did not know it had dots. It was no were in the instructions or the manual. I didn't mark the flywheel cause I put a new one in... Thanks a ton. Sucks though. Time to pull the tranny back down.

Yup, i figured that was it considering the symptoms/issues you were having......

Reinstall using your original sensor....hopefully you can return the others...

The Z is picky.....research everything before you do it........

ok, the flywheel was definitely on wrong. I got it put on the right way, there is a mark for front wheel drive and rear wheel. PUT it on for rear wheel, bolted back up and I'm still having the same problems.... any ideas?

ok, put the old sensor in again and disconnected the battery and it works suddenly. My service engine light is still on though. It says crank position sensor but it cranks right off now and my rpm's quit fluctuating. Guess I'm not doing the reset right. I appreciate all of your help man.
