Default 2004 Zs having manual tranny issue

I have been reading the transmission thread (lots of people getting them replaced.)

Someone has proposed that there are 3 version of the transmission. (The third being much better) I am wondering if the 3 rev made it on to all the 2004s

Has anyone here with a 2004 had a transmission problem?

Hey, man. When you get your 04, can you put a few thousand miles on it asap and tell us if you also have the feathering issue as well? Thanks man!

Same here, my Roadster is due in a week or two!

You bet I will be watching this thread.

I just hope some 2004 Z owners actually respond to this poll.

Well, I *think* AndyB was refering to this post when he talks about the third part number tranny:

I will try and find out for you jehjr68. I am thinking the one you got might be the 2nd part number. This 3rd part number one has only been available a very short time. My dealership didn't know about it until it came up in the computer and I told them about it. He did some research apparently, while my car was in, and talked to me about it this morning. He said that technically this new transmission wasn't going to be released for a few weeks or more. I don't know what that means exactly, but it sounded like he was saying that it only came up because he was looking for it in the system, but if he had just looked it up by itself, rather than for 350z tranny, it would not come up.

Anyhow, I'll try and see what I can find.
From that post it seems that the third part tranny was due to be released a few weeks since his post which was posted only 3 days ago. So I don't know if any current 04 owners have this third part number tranny yet. I also recall another post by a 04 owner, (blue liquid), who said his tranny was having the same notchy feel going into first and second gear. From Rob Nance's post about the third part number tranny, it feels totally different than the first and second tranny so this again makes me believe current 04 Z's do not have this third part number tranny.

I don't think we will know the true answer untill new Z's arrive next month or the month after. I hope to God my Z has this third part number tranny as well as a fixed suspension that doesn't have the tire feathering and pulling to the right issues. All other issues I can live with.

I have a 2004 with a manual trans, it was made in July '03. I've had it for about a month and a half now. The transmission really stinks; 2nd gear is the worst. About half of the time, it doesn't want to go in - i have the force it a little. This happens about a forth of the time with 3rd. However, on some drives, there's absolutely no issues, and it drives like a dream. It's really erratic.

I have an 04 and no Tranny probs, Yes you need to get used to 1st and second gear. It's not a problem though.
