Default Trunk lid actuator sticking in open position

Without getting to technical, swap the little rubber ***** inside the actuator motor and you should be good to go for another 5+ years. Once both the little ***** get damaged you will need new ones. God only knows where to find them.

Well, another thanks to all for this thread. My 07 had the latch fail tonight. Fortunately, only the gear was out of position. Repositioned it. Will test it out over the next few days and see if it holds up. Otherwise, I'll improvise a fix.

Hey guys I have a trunk problem but a bit different than what everyone has been experiencing. I was hoping someone could help with mine. So I was working in the trunk the other day taking plastics and liners out for a reverse camera problem I was having and in the process of taking the plastic liner out I broke the little piece that attaches the trunk antilocking device to the plastic liner. Now I notice when I open and close the trunk it kind of grinds, it latches fine but I can feel it griding when I open the trunk I tried some silicone lubricant but this did not help. Any idea what this could be did I possible damage the mechanism when I broke that plastic piece?

Well, after a couple more attempts to repair, I decided to go ahead and get a new one:

Default trunk hatch will not latch, partial fix

On our 2005 350z, the problem finally showed up. Using the instructions located the cause of the problem. The gear sector was intact, no broken or missing teeth. The gear sector was locked in the "unlocked" position, not allowing the hatch to lock down. As it turns out, one of the little rubber *****, a bumper, was worn and the gear sector was traveling too far. Swapping the two ***** fixed the problem. Someone asked, where can I obtain the rubber *****? Go to an industrial supply that sells O rings. I didn't notice the actual diameter of the ball, 9mm, 10mm? Find an O ring with the same thickness and cut a piece from it with a sharp knife or razor blade, the same length as the thickness, so it ends up being a cylinderical solid, a tiny rod, and insert it in place of the rubber ball. That should do the trick. O rings come in different types of rubber, most are probably neoprene. If you could find silicon rubber that would be better but I don't think it would matter.

Hope this helps some of you.

2nd time having to disassemble to this issue. Has anyone tried a 3D printed part for this yet? For the affected parts anyway?
