Low RPM rattle driving me CRAZY
Hey guys I've got an 06 Z and there is some type of "clangy metallic sounding" rattle coming from under the car during low RPMs. For example, I hear it really loud when starting to move in first gear or when downshifting/braking. Any idea what this issue could be (before I go insane)? Thanks lol
Don't know. I would have to get under the car for a listen.
BTW I had a rattle under the 350Z for about 6 months. Drove me insane. Finally figured out is was a broken exhaust support.
Good luck.

next time go under your car in the rear where your exhaust muffler connects to the end of the midpipe, feel around the screws maybe its loose and that causes rattles but disappears after u drive faster, Good luck!
Agree.. Go under the car with it on. Can you get someone to rev it a little and you lay on the ground listening for it. It has to be the exhaust. Especially if the car isn't moving.
Good luck.. Its those rattles that drive you fricking insane.

I have the same problem. For me simply revving the engine while stationary will not make the sound. Its only when the car is in gear and moving in low rpm is when the rattle sound is made. I will have to check for loose pipes.

i just noticed I have it too. If I'm in neutral and i rev a tiny bit from .7 rpm to about .9 I get a pretty loud rattle. The rattle sounds like it comes from under the clutch though. loose pipes maybe?
ur gonna have to get under and shake things around with the car off first, then have someone rev it up while ur under it listening..how do u expect people to diagnose this over the internet..really
