gas tank not filling
I just bought a 2004 350z and I am having an issue filling up the tank. I can only get at most 10 gallons in the tank, I've tried filling about 4 times. I searched this site and found several threads. Most of the threads were old from 08. I wanted to see if there were any updates. I went to the dealer and was told there were two service bulletins. One for the shutter valve which was posted on this site and the other was for the cut bracket. Both parts were cheap and both needed o-rings. He told me TSB for the shutter valve was for intermittent filling issues and the TSB for the cut bracket was for every time filling issues.
What is the best procedure to fix the problem? Are there any links to a step by step process? I've tried tilting the gas pump handle as recommended on this site but that didn't work.

My '05 had the shutter valve problem and the dealer fixed it per the TSB. Since my car was under warranty it was fixed for free. They requested I bring in the car with about 1/4 of a tank of gas.
Welcome. You can research the appropriate service bulletin here: http://x.nissanhelp.com/forums/Knowl...html?catid=253
NOTE: I am surprised that Nissan is asking you to choose maintenance rather than diagnosing and fixing the problem.
BTW have this recall completed: http://www.AboutAutomobile.com/Recal...0Z/Fuel+System

Are you sure your tank is not filling? Or is the gas gauge just not reading "Full" after you're done filling? My gauge would only go up to 3/4 after filling, and when it showed "Empty" it would only take about 12 gallons. That's a common problem with our cars from what I've found. I pulled the sending units out of both tanks and cleaned the sensors per this post and it works perfectly now:

When I went to the dealer, they said they could run a diagnostic test which would cost $50. I didn't want to go that route if I could fix the problem myself for around $10. They looked up recalls with my vin number and said there were no recalls.
I was going to clean the sensors and replace the shutter valve at the same time since it seems to be cheap.
The car spills gas out of the filler hole indicating to me that it is full but the gauge reads 3/4 to 1/2 full when I start the car. I've filled the car up from empty 4 times and the car only took 10 gallons at most, spilling gas each time. It is supposed to be a 20 gallon tank. The gas gauge doesn't fluctuate as described in the link posted to fix the sensors.
I'm not sure if the problem is with the sensors or the shutter valve. What does the shutter valve actually do?

I have not taken the time to have the shutter valve replaced. I just run mine for about 50 miles after the gas light comes on and it hold 15+ gallons. If I run it 100 miles past empty it will hold 17+ lol.
