Default Correct Oil for the VQ

so i have been reading through some threads and noticed that some people say royal purple, and mobil 1 aren't good oil to you in our motors. I was wondering what some of the members here use, and if someone can simply explain why RP or M1 isnt all that great. Thanks

Where did you read mobile one isn't good?

Most brands are good. It depends on what weight you put in and the temperatures related to your area to give the car the bext weight to work with...

Default why not mobil 1??

I've been using Mobil 1 products in my z since the day I purchased it. I am now running 0w40 due to having an 06 with TONS of oil consumption. I have seen a huge difference in using this oil with the amount I actually burn.
Having been using Mobil from the get go and not having any motor issues nor engine noises, I will continue to use Mobil 1 Synthetic oils. Motor still sounds nice and quiet and I'm going to be reaching 75,000 miles any day now.

Use the oil specificed by your owners manual, change it regularly at the recommended interval and you'll have no problems with your engine.

Default re mobil 1

someone please speak up who has exact knowledge on the subject then, i bought my 04 3 years ago and ive been using 10w-30 mobil 1 faithfully every 4-5k miles. in the beginning i used 5w-30 and noticed my oil psi would climb really high to red line. i figured this oil was too thin, and went to 10w-30 and the psi went down to 90 when running the gears out

All these replies and no one has posted a link to THE definitive thread on the topic:

Read the VQ UOA charts and explanations on the first page carefully.

mobil 1 is a good oil...technically speaking all of the oil are good.... synthetic that is..but what make them good or bad is the UOA ...( Used Oil Analysis ) to find out how does which oil perform on VQ motor... some said this some said that .. every VQ out there once have to find there own oil to like. For example.. my friend using mobil 1 in his vq and everything went perfect for him , but when i used it , it didnt went so smoothly , but for me , i used motul 8100 5w-30 oil and my car love it ... and he also now used it too. motul oil is just too good too passs up... i love it and it ant that much more expensive then mobil 1

OP, you may be confused about the M1 being bad. It's a good oil, but it is not a full synthetic anymore.

IMO, depends on you when do you want to change the oil?, if you change the oil @3k (which i do for my 06) i use the castrol gtx 5w30. If you will change the oil later, you can go with synthethic. My car runs well with Castrol GTX. No issues at all. Now, i make sure i always use K&N Oil Filter, or Mobil 1...

your choice really...
