Haven't had any problems with the 06's. But bring it by and we can look at it.

well nissan called me they're installing a 32010-CD008, but thats it? was there suppose to be anything else with that? They want me to buy new stuff like clutch and flywheel. but I'm just going to do that later. So all i'm suppose to get is a new tranny not the clutch disc "30100-CD020 or pedal 46503-CD011 ????

AHH well it seem nissan wants me to buy a new clutch and if i don't it will viod my warrenty.!!??! WTF I told them the grinding had nothing to do with the clutch!?, he says "well we know but my maneger said it had to be done. If you don't replace the clutch it'll viod the warrenty because it need to get replaced when the tranny get replaced. but you have to pay for it blah blah blah. well I talked some sence into that guy he understands where I'm comming from so he said he'd have another talk with the Maneger and call me tomorrow. Is this right? I just posted about the clutch disc that you guys got free under warrenty with cd008 trannies , now there saying I must pay for it.?

sounds like crap to me. I know there have been more than a few guys on here who have had their trans replaced and the dealer reused the original clutch. in fact I think alberto went through 3 transmissions and they just put his original one in each. if the clutch suffered excessive wear due to the failure of the trans and NEEDS to be replaced then I think nissan should pay for it.

however I don't necessarily see how that would happen with the typical grind issue associated with the syncros. in my case my dealer couldn't replicate the grind intially, but they said my clutch was very heavy so they wanted to replace the pressure plate. I asked them to keep it over night since the grind was only happening when it was cold, but they didn't seem to want to do that. however when they opened her up they found the clutch was worn so they replaced that, at which point they put it all back together and experienced the grind I was talking about. so now they have to replace the trans and I eat the cost of the clutch and pressure plate since they incorrectly diagnosed the problem.

I would say if they are adamant about it to just get an aftermarket clutch and flywheel and make them install that or just go to another dealer.

Both of my tranny replacements...008, came with new clutch and flywheel covered under warranty. I thought it was standard practice to replace clutch and flywheel when they put in a new tranny. Why would some dealers do it and some won't? Also, a clutch should last 80K miles at least even if you push the car pretty good. I've never even replaced a clutch on any of my manual cars and have had them up to 135K miles. If you have low miles on your Z. I do not honestly believe that a clutch replacement should be considered wear and tear. If it's broken, it is DEFECTIVE. Go to another dealer. How much is a clutch and flywheel replacement on the Z anyway? IT has to be pretty expensive. $1,200? $1,500?

Alright guys, this is how it is supposed to now work. 5year/60K warranty on trans. IF the trans is jacked up, the dealer SHOULD replace it with a 32010-CD009 and a new clutch disc 30100-CD019. This is done free of charge by Nissan without you needing to buy anything else in the process. No pedal assy anymore, no pressure plate or flywheel.... but there are exceptions and we have replaced flywheels/pressure plates on a few cars. We always recommend going to a Nismo or JWT flywheel at that time as it will aid in the shifting of the car, but you don't need to. That is your option. Many people don't like the added trans noise with aftermarket flywheels.

hey jeff- as far as I can tell my dealer already replaced the clutch and pressure plate, and will be replacing my trans with the 008 (they told me 009 is only for rev-up Z's). is there anything I can do or tell them to get them to use the 009?

thanks.

I'm not sure how they can even get a 008 trans. They change over to the 009. At least in the Los Angeles market. I would ASSUME all dealers get the same info no matter where they are?????

ok I had to edit my post, here is what they want me to buy because these items are not under warrenty but must be installed with the new tranny.

Clutch Cover Assembly about 185$
Bearing Bush Release around 40$
bushings about 10$

I really don't care about paying 200+ but If I don't have to then I'd like not to. So what can I say to them??

the LSD is not a part of the trans, its in your differential and would not be something replaced when a trans is replaced. so no, nissan will not replace that for a trans issue, they will also never replace an open differential with an LSD. thats like asking if they find something wrong with your engine, will they give you leather seats (although not to that extreme, you get what I mean). if you want a stock LSD I suggest shopping around the classifieds on this forum or looking in your local junkyards for a full pumpkin.

Your call. This is tough without seeing the parts and checking for wear or hot spots. No one can make that call until the parts are out of the car. I have my doubts about needing to be replaced from what we have experianced here. You are not obligated to purchase anything! I will bite my tongue with what I think of your dealer
