07 HR misfire due to oil change ?
Hi, Hope some HR owner can give me some advice
Had my car drop off at the local oil change place yesterday (Valvoline), and got my 07 HR oil changed with Valvoline sync power 5W30 (been using that for 2 years now). After i got home (about 5 min away from the shop), i experienced minor engine stall (didn't pay too much attention).
Next morning, i start the car in cold (72F), experienced major engine stall during idle. The engine die twice, no throttle response
. The problem soon got better when engine is fully warm up. on my way to work, cruising down hwy in 6th gear around 75mph, the rpm started to hesitate and jump between 2500 and 3500 rpm for 2 seconds and it went back to normal. Took it to the shop and did the diagnostic and got misfire on the meter. I then went back to the oil change place and had them redo the oil change @ 5 quarts only(I was worry they overfilled my engine oil the first time). unfortunately, the problem still there. I am going to change the spark plugs just to see if it gets better. i will post the result tomorrow.
All advice are greatly appreciate.
Steve

If they really did overfill the oil, the excess oil can get whipped into a froth which can be carried into the intake system through the PCV valve. That will foul the plugs and cause the misfiring.
Now that the excess oil has been removed, the engine should gradually clean itself of the carbon buildup. If the car is drivable, I'd drive it for several hundred miles to see if it gets better. If it does, you're OK. If not, you'll need to change the plugs, etc.
I'd inform the shop about what you're going to do, and let them know you expect them to pay for fixing your car if the problem doesn't go away after several hundred miles.

I already purchased and installed the plugs. cost me $25 each X 6 and 2 hours
. i did see some oil on 2 of the old plugs i removed, and hope that's the reason for all my misfire problems. i will post the result tomorrow when i finish the project.
I guess i will have to change my car oil again like old days.
BTW, if anyone need a write up for HR spark plugs change and pictures, pm me, and i will do a complete post with pictures. it's a pain in the @#$
