Default Cricket noise

Ive noticed in the past three days during cold starts, my engine makes a cricket chirping sound. After 2-3 minutes of warm up it goes away. It sounds like it is eminateing from the pulleys/belt. Does anyone know what this could be? The the car is a 07 with 25,000 miles on it.

Video to come once it uploads on YouTube.

Thank you.

Several things it could be.When the weather gets cooler, some of the bearings
need to warm up a bit. They then quiet down. With the fairly low miles on your car,its uncommon for the belts to go bad,However,I'd check the tension on the belts and signs of any cracks. My Z made a similar sound that like you, went away when it warmed up.I replaced the belts. It went away.

My main concern is that it isn't anything serious. Keep in mind that even though the car does have fairly low miles, I do track it. As for it being a result of cooler weather, possibly. However, I can not recall it doing this last season (or the one before that). In that case it leads me to believe something is warn out. If anything could be the culprit I assume it to be the belt, even though I cant see a thing wrong with it (bad eyes?).

The video is long in order to show the time it takes for it to dissipate.

I sure could not hear anything from the video...
On checking the belts, from my experience, trying to check the belt condition
on the car is darn near impossible.Where the wear usually occurs is in the
"tread" or grooved part that touches the pulleys. There will be small cracks
that give the belt a texture not smooth compared to new belts.Perhaps you can feel the surface of the grooves?By what you are describing, thats exactly
the way my car sounded.New belts cleared it up.

Does the noise speed up when you rev the engine? If those are the original belts just change them, they break down over time too, not just due to mileage.

Looks like an accessory belt to me; probably power steering. They're cheap, and having one snap is hardly what I'd call a fun time. Swap 'em out and see if that fixes it.

The cricket noise can be easily
Heard if you fast forward to the end. Listen to the engine at the end of the bid then compare to the beginning. As for the belts I guess I'll just replace them.

And no, the noise only occurs during cold cold starts and dissipates later. I haven't
Revved it seeing as it only happens at cold starts.

Like everyone else said, it's a bad belt.

Yep, the fact that it only happens on a cold start points me in that direction even more.

Okay then, I guess the belts gave to go! Should I change the serpentine and power steering belts?

Still most likely a belt issue. Could also be a bad tensioner or idler pulley. What year is your car? How many miles on the odometer?
