spun bearing or something is metal bouncing around in your oil pan... thrust bearing??... either way... dont run it anymore till its taken apart.

It sounds like a spun rod bearing. Happened to me before. GL.

Cass, what do you think?

It sounds louder than my rod knock did, but I never bent the rods, just pounded out the bearings. Maybe a thrust bearing or bent rod that has lost a bearing. Regardless, OP STOP RUNNING IT or you may ventilate the block.

What mods do you have currently?

thanks for the responses.... it isnt a rod knock because it would do it all the time. sometimes it will make the noise at 3500 rpm and sometimes not. it sounds like its coming from the bell housing. there is nothing done to the motor. its bone stock with 35k miles. it ran and drove fine all the way from seattle to south carolina and then the next morning i started her up and started getting this noise.....

No idea man but seems like many think it is coming from the engine. Lets answer a few questions first like what type of motor do you have. Rev-up, DE, HR and how many miles total did you drive on your trip. Did you check your oil before you left, during your trip and after your trip. Does your vehicle consume any oil previously during oil change intervals. Do you feel like it is your clutch or flywheel and how many miles have you driven it since the noise first started.

Edit: Stolen from this post...BTW...OH SH*T SON it just got real...

Actually, it was the 2005 6MT anniversary edition and the track models that came with the RevUp engine.

My 2005 Track model has had no problem with oil consumption, but there are others who haven't been as lucky (and generally have been more vocal).

im not sure what motor it is but the tick doesnt increase with rpms it just makes the same noise. its more of a rattle than a tick since the noise i have driven maybe 10-15 miles. oil consumption in not much if any at all. i have jacked the car up and the noise comes from the bell housing area not in the engine. no check engine lights or anything out of the normal. oil pressure is good and the tranny shifts perfect. i have no idea....

also it sounds completely normal until it gets above 2500 rpms. wouldnt a rod not make the noise at even idle?

must be the clutch arm or bushing. since it only happen when you press the clutch in.

here is my advice: buy a clutch/flywheel combo, new bushings etc. have the trans removed to see whats going on. install clutch/flywheel at the same time.
