Default acceleration issue?...test drive?

I have a 2007 Auto Z...I am not sure if this is an issue...however...it seems that when i accelerate (not full throttle...but just driving around to work, groceries, etc)...the car seems a little sluggish...it seems the acceleration vs rpms is not as it should be...the rpms will reach 3500 and i am just keeping up with normal traffic...

I dont know too much about cars...but its like the torque converter is not transferring as much hp to the wheels...hopefully i said that correctly...if not sorry...

Is there someone around the northwest suburbs of chicago who also has a Auto Z that wouldnt mind taking a short drive in my Z just to let me know if it is just me or there is actually something wrong with the car...

Also...is there something else i should be doing to help diagnose the problem...thanks...

If your in D in your auto transmission, it will be a bit slower for fuel economy. Although, if you shift into the sport mode and shift your self, it will be quicker. Good luck.

Not normal...
How many miles on your car?
How often do you service it?
How long have you owned the car?
Has it always had this problem?
If not,when did it start?

Btw, what octane gas are you using? If your using lower than 91, the ECU is retarding the timing.

I have only had the car for a year now...
26000 miles...
I took it in for the 15000 miles service (which may have only been the oil change)...i also requested for a radiator flush because it seems the car warms up to normal operating temperature very quickly but never overheats...(i just chalked that up to the higher compression engine)
I do take the car in every 3000 for the oil change...
I only use premium gas from shell or bp...

Thanks guys for the help...definitely could use it

I could make half dozen guesses about performance, but that is what they will be, guesses. Take the Z to Nissan and have them run a complete diagnostics.

By the way,I'm a ex-Chicagoan(NW side/Logan Square).
I take it your car is stock...no engine mods? When was the last time you changed your air cleaner filters?Clogged filters will give you poor performance.
Your 15k service, was that at a oil change joint...not a dealer? The radiator flush probably was not necessary. It is normal for the Z to reach operating temp. quickly. With only 26k miles, your car is just broke in.I'd check those filters..possibly drop in some K&N's to give you a little more breathing. Also, depending on what oil change place you took your car to,they may have not buttoned things back up correctly when checking your air filters.
At 26k I would not think you would need a fuel filter change.
You may want to add some fuel additive to clean the injectors..Sea Foam
works good. How does the car idle?Is it smooth?
Check those filters and let us know what you find out.
You don't need 3,000 mile oil changes.Save your money and go 5k+
unless you are doing some heavy duty driving. You could have saved enough for those K&N's!

Thanks for the input guys...i actually changed the air filters when i first bought the car around 17500 miles...the 15000 check up i had done at a dealership...should i just take it in to the dealership and have them take a look at it...

Im still down for someone around the area with an auto Z could taking it for a drive with me and letting me know if it is out of the ordinary...

I think your transmission is at fault from your description.

Any odd sounds? Clunking, metallic?

i havent noticed any sounds from the transmission...i have been driving the car for quite some time in auto manual mode and it does react a little better...but it almost seems as if the acceleration is loose...by that i mean if i press the accelerator...the rpms will move up from like 2000 to 3000 rpms with very little acceleration...its like it has a "loose" acceleration / response...

i am extremely sorry for the lack of the automotive vocabulary to properly describe my scenario...thanks nonetheless...

I was under the impression there are some issues with the tranny in an HR AT's...
If you're under warranty, dealer first.
