this is best dealt with by actually asking a dealership and then posting the result of the discussion. Ppl can then tell you your recourse.

Free motor from Nissan? Doubt it.

Just keep adding oil every few weeks, you're gonna have to deal with it unless you get a new motor.

I'd definitely take it up with Nissan, but don't hold your breath. It may be less of a hassle to just go ahead and buy stock in your preferred brand of oil.

I had an 03 6spd Maxima and it burned oil. I got the engine replaced from Nissan under warranty, and guess what? Even THAT one burned a bit of oil. I learned to live with it. With the new engine I would top off every 3 weeks or so. Now with the old engine, I honestly didn't notice a loss in performance - it was just a hassle sort of thing. I would check the oil every week and top off a bit. I always had a quart of oil in the trunk. It was a slight inconvenience, but even if I was out of warranty, I wouldn't sell the car or worry. It's only because I had the warranty that I took advantage of it and got a new engine.

My advice: just monitor oil levels under the same conditions once a week and top off if necessary. If you check it after the engine has been off for an hour, follow that next time. If you normally check in the morning, follow that next time. Also try to check your levels on the same surface.

6Yrs and 83K mi..no way warranty is gonna save you..but you can always try, since this is a unique problem with 06s. Just resign yourself to topping it off every thousand miles...no biggie. You might wanna try a good 10/40 or 20/50 weight oil now...that will slow things down.

my friend tried to do the same thing and nissan rejected him right away and yet his 06 have only 61k and they denied him...as of 6 times went into the dealership. at this point of time i dont even bother to try or make my brain to push me to try and go to the place and get it fix or even a spare chance of new motor...lol... but according to my friends , they said that "for that high mileages of vq and it only consump 1/4 of a quart every 2thousand miles and that much oils then consider your self lucky" ....the last three days i put 120 miles on it and i usually park in right in front of my work place and it perfect balance straight parking . so therefore i alway check after about 4 hours of parked there. and so far so good the oil level staying the same...above the H mark..
