Hey all having an issue with my clutch which i thought i resolved.... i was getting a loud noise from my clutch when the pedal was depressed and mostly when the car was not warmed up.... its very loud and sounds like (er er er er er er er er) so my first instinct it, throw out bearing. Removed the tranny and turns out the bearing was rotating on the sleeve. The sleeve was pretty ground down so i replaced it as well.... put it all back together and for about a week all was well and then suddenly it returned again... i know this bearing is pressed in all the way and the rotating part is facing the pressure plate of the clutch.... what could be making this noise?? I have an exedy clutch and replaced the bearing with an OEM nissan bearing..... could it be the clutch or the flywheel or perhaps the transmission shaft?? The clutch still grabs, you can put your foot down in second and rev it all the way to the limiter without any slip..... all threads that I have read say this is the TOB but like i said its been replaced.... any help??

When you replaced your throwout bearing did you use special tool #KV30101400 or something similar?

If not I think you may have toasted the bearing during installation.

 

I used a press at school, just used a socket that which is essentially the same thing..... HOWEVER i didnt great the bearing or the sleeve.... do you think that could be the issue or could it be a different part altogether, the previous bearing i took out also wasn't greased but seemed to be fine.... im so confused....

could it be the transmission input shaft??

 

"If a clutch was disengaged, the input shaft on the transmission would not be spinning, eliminating the bearing noise coming form the input shaft bearing. A pilot bearing would be a probable cause of noise in this case. With the input shaft not spinning, the pilot bearing is spinning on the end of the shaft. This could cause a bearing noise due to a bad or worn pilot bearing."

Heres the grease instructions, pull the tranny, replace pilot, grease and maybe just put another new T.O. bearing if you didnt grease it right.

 

Thanks a bunch.... i guess my next coarse of action will be to change the bearing, might wait for the clutch to go, as it has high mileage already an di dont really have the tools or location to this this job anymore.... what are possible effects of running it with a bad pilot bearing for an extended period of time??

 

So could not greasing the bearing be the verdict or could it be the pilot bearing??
