AIRBAG LIGHT out of no where
Ok so I have a 2005 350zR
Today I get in to come to work and the air bag light is flashing.
I tried the simple step before leaving for work "turning off the car" nothing
then I looked it up on my phone and saw how to reset it and it worked for all of about 9 miles. Now its back on. I found how to put it in "Self-Diagnosis Mode" and have recorded this.
http://youtu.be/azIxNvnQ75Y
However it appears to be a steady on off on off? any thoughts? I have reset it again just to see if I can make it stay off.
Also other known problem is the cruise is not working and is thought to be the clock spring (scheduler to go in next week waiting on parts) could these problems be one in the same?
I have gone thru the below and notice that the clock spring (spiral cable) is listed as an issue. (yes I know this is for a 04 G35 but info is the same in the shop manual for 05 350z)

Welcome to owning a 350z. I have had this issue for a long time. Airbag light randomly comes on, I put the car in self diagnosis mode, then the only code I get is the reset code. I've reset it god knows how many times. Longest it ever stayed off was 6 months.

If your cruise control isn't getting a signal from the switch and you're getting an airbag light, then yes, all signs point to a bad clock spring. You could test this in real time if you could get your hands on a Consult IV reader, but assuming you don't have one, replace the clock spring and cross your fingers. Be sure you do a good job marking how everything on the steering column is lined up (use a Sharpie) and take lots of photos you can refer back to for reassembly.
You'll have to go through the airbag reset ritual (it's here on the board somewhere and it works great). If you can't find it, let me know. I printed it out a while back and can re-post it here if needed.

Don't know if this is related but...I have the airbag light as well. Dealer told me it was the airbag in the drivers seat. Apparently I put all my weight onto it when getting out of the car and caused it to malfunction.

At least you've got the problem narrowed down now. You could try the procedure below, but I'd STRONGLY recommend that you take your car to a dealership to have the problem diagnosed since any short to the SRS is INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. Your airbag could deploy without warning if your harness is damaged.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal, wait half an hour, disconnect all the connectors under the seat and then remove the driver's seat (headrest has to come out first, then the rest of the seat, folded in the forward position, can be removed from the vehicle.) Thoroughly check your wires and connectors for any obvious damage. You can try spraying some contact cleaner in the Molex connectors to improve the oxidized contacts. Put the seat back in and re-connect everything before you reconnect the battery. You'll need some new zip-ties to secure the loose wires. Torque the floor bolts to factory spec and try clearing the SRS light again.
If that doesn't work, then seriously, have a professional fix it.

hmmmm a couple weeks back my cruise control started blinking....and as of last week it wont turn on. And today I found my horn doesnt work when I press it. (only works when I hit the button to arm the alarm...)
Think its still the clock spring? The cheapest Ive seen them new is from Concept Z, for 144 shipped.
