Cam sensor replacement question.
Hi everybody!
Just a quick question, my z has been throwing the p0340(bank a) code for a while now, losing power and throttle randomly, I ordered a reaplcement sensor but its not a genuine nissan part. Its a Delphi sensor, i replaced it and car will start for less than a second and then goes off. Is there anything i need to reset or should i just buy a genuine sensor?
Thanks!

The first thing that comes to mind is the sensor installed correctly?
I recently replaced a sensor on my Z.Its not exactly a 10 min job(especially
if the car is hot).It is quite possible that its the aftermarket sensor(Delphi)itself.
I always use OEM parts when it comes to replacing things like sensors. You
prolly saw the price of a OEM part vs what you bought and said,"whats the difference"?
Another thing that I experienced after I replaced my cam sensor was how great the car
ran.Sensors are like other parts, they may be getting "weak",not working at full
efficiency. You really don't notice until they start going out.I recently had a tune
with the "weak" sensor. The results of the tune were excellent. However,I'll bet
the way my car is now running that if I put it back on the dyno,I may have another 10 hp!

There are 2 Cam sensors, which 1 did you replace?
Bank 1 refers to passenger side(where cyl 1 is) and back 2 is driver's
I don't remember the exact code # I had, but it was bank 1 cam sensor. I replaced that 1 with an aftermarket sensor from O'Reilly's. no problems for 2 weeks, then the same code/symptoms. Went back and warrantied it out, 2 weeks, same thing. Warrantied once more and dicided to replace the driver's side also, been 6 weeks and no problems. So, I'm not sure if the CEL codes were incorrect, or if the driver's side was just on the way out, but it's been running strong since doing both.

Hi guys thanks for the inputs, the code im getting is p0340 bank 1(passenger´s side) the sensor was taken out and the new one was plugged all the way in till the plug clicked, not much science on it i believe. Im not sure if i should reset ecu or something. Should have just bought the oem one, was 63$ againt 30 for the delphi.
Went through the same ordeal with orilley, then went to advanced and got a different brand until courtesy shipped one for me but the one from advanced is still in the car and running perfect. I do not believe that you can put the sensor in wrong or anything like that, the only mistake would be the wiring harness but if you hear it clip you should be good.
