sputtering/jerking under light acceleration
Hey,
I just got my first 350z about 1 month ago.
When the car is cold everything is smooth.
After a few minutes of driving it starts jerking in 1st and 2nd gear ( really bad in 1st) under light acceleration at around 2200 rpm. It feels like the car completely looses power right around there.
the only mods are injen intake and test pipes... thought it might be why because it probably never had a tune?
any ideas?
Thans for your help!

Clutch doesn't slip and it gets worse the longer I drive.. Doesn't do it when car is cold. No ses or codes. If it was the coil pack it would do it when the car is cold as well wouldn't it? How do I check for vacuum leaks?

Could be a bad IAT sensor, could be a vac leak. Hook it up to a scan tool and a vac tester and run a diagnostic. The FSM will have a troubleshooting guide to walk you through it. If I were throwing parts at it, I'd say it's your IAT sensor, but throwing parts at a problem is not a good idea, so test everything first. If you don't have the equipment to test with, then find someone who does or just get a shop to fix it.
Also, did YOU install the intake? Did you muck around with the MAF sensor? That could be causing the problem too. Check all connections and make sure it's facing the right direction.

Yeah, you can try cleaning the MAF, just be sure to use MAF Cleaner (dont' use carb or brake cleaner). The IAT can be cleaned with MAF Cleaner or carb cleaner. As long as you're in the engine bay, you should also clean out your throttle. Use throttle cleaner/lube. Valvoline makes a good cleaner for that. If you don't know how to do this, get on Youtube and look it up.
Before you do ANY work on your car, get a Factory Service Manual. You can get these on Nissan's website for 20 bucks and just download it to your computer so you'll always have it. It will pay for itself the first time you use it.
EDIT:
FYI, aftermarket air filters that use oil in their elements can really screw up your MAF. If possible, you should just stick with the factory airbox and filter. Nissan did a good job designing it and aftermarket intakes on the Z, though nice for show, do just about nothing to help with the car's performance. In a lot of cases, you'll lose power.

Hahahahaha!xD just realized that!
Anyways I used some RCR cleaner to clean out the sensors and it did not help at all...I already got a service manual thanks. And I bought the car this way so I do not have the stock intake.. I also cleaned the throttle body like you said.. Any other ideas? are you sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I got test pipes and cai and never got a tune?
thanks for your help!
