Default Fumoto Oil Drain Valve: OEM Drain Plug Washer or Supplied Washer

Thinking of installing one and I have read conflicting reports on this. Can anyone who has one of these tell me if they used what it came with or if I should install a OEM Drain Plug Washer with it?

Agreed. We use this valve on our Bonneville Porsche 928 and it works great. I will be ordering one for my G35x as well.

Okay. Was just wanting to make sure since there is mixed information around about this. Wanted to get the answer from someone who has installed it and has had no issues with it leaking.

what's the point of using one when modern oil change intervals are 10k miles or higher?

once in a blue moon to loosen a drain bolt doesn't warrant installing an extra part that could ruin your engine upon failure.
That's just my 02 cents

You are welcome to do whatever you would like to your own car, including 10k+ oil changes, however I don't need your advice on mine if it doesn't pertain to the question asked, which in this case it doesn't.

While I appreciate you wanting to put your .02 in on the topic I asked about, I didn't ask for it on the topic you are addressing.

10k on the Z , he'll no. Still needs it at around 5k , less if you track it. But yes, no point on the Z, the plug is at an angle and pours the oil out well. I have installed this valve on my Jeep, works well and a lot less mess. 10 liters coming out sideways and onto a crossmember, the EPA should have called every oil change before I got the valve.

Thank You for the info guys!

The reason I am doing this on the Z is it is much easier to just get through the access hole and attach the hose to this than it is to have to take that belly pan off every time I change the oil. It will also make it infinitely easier to just put the oil right back into an old jug instead of into a drain pan and then into the jug. A matter of convenience, that's all.

Look I wasn't disrespecting your decision, just provided my .02 cents of what I think about the mod, no need to start throwing insults left and right. It's your car and your prerogative, I hope that the valve outlasts your engine and nothing ever happens to it, and now that you explained your reasoning I guess it's ok but still an unnecessary complexity.

As far as 10k oil changes, I use amsoil motor oil which is 10$ a quart but is also good for up to 25k miles (if you do some research on it and check out some oil analysis charts you can see that this actually works on both track and daily driven vehicles)

As far as Amsoil, I figure if I need to change the filter anyway I may as well do the oil. I've never had an issue with Mobil 1 in any of the vehicles I have run it in, 33 and counting as of now for personal vehicles, so I don't have much of a reason to switch other than within the brand when they reformulate like they have been doing lately.

Nothing wrong with the oil but people forget you still need to change the filter. Just discourages any bad behavior on my part.
