That's what I meant...that the information the O2 sensor is sending back to the PCM/ECU is not within specs aka the O2 sensor is causing the light to come on, but is not necessarily the issue.

how does a shop go and test all that stuff? If its a misfire wouldn't it be tripping other sensors? How can a shop tell if its an injector that's clogged, or a spark plug that isn't firing all the way or is giving a weak spark?

i got a service engine soon light, should I get my oil changed? j/k people need to manner the way they "try to help" other, sometimes your answer gets across the board in a very different way.
i got that light for like 2 days and then it disappeared. I will get it checked out because I believe even if it goes away it gets recorded right.

So I had a shop quote me 375 to replace the A/F sensor, which I've already had replaced once by a shop down the street... which I'm never going to again because the guy got my car stuck on the lift while he was trying to drive it up... ****ing retard... light came back on after the sensor was replaced, and now this 2nd shop is telling me to replace the sensor with a higher quality one. 1. Is this shop just trying to hassle me into spending more money then I need to. 2. What kind of warranty should I look into with the shop if the code keeps coming back? 3. Are there steps the shop should take to diagnose why the code is coming up? Should they test the plugs, coils before I have them replace the A/F sensor AGAIN?
