Default Weird Metal on Metal Grinding Noise

When I shift into first gear and go below about 5-7MPH I hear a metal on metal grinding noise. It isn't constant, I want too say it almost goes with the rotation of the tires but it could also be something else rotating. Anyway I was wondering if you guys had any ideas as too what it could be, possibly a CV joint, axle or caliper? My driveshaft snapped in half and I haven't gotten it up onto a lift yet but I don't see how that could cause this sound but of course I could be wrong. Thanks for whatever help I get!

If it's metal-on-metal grinding, there's sure to be marks left on a reciprocating part. While it may be unrelated, the "snapped in half" driveshaft would be the first place I'd look. What caused THAT in the first place?

Gee... I wonder if the two issues might be related?

OP put the accident in a separate thread:

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...e-in-half.html

Hearing that he hopped a curb and damaged the bottom of the car means there could be damage to the front suspension causing this metal-to-metal sound. Since this Z is off the road, OP needs to inspect everything when the car is up on a lift or jackstands.
